IT Manager's Handbook: Getting your New Job Done

Great book for those transitioning to a new role ... like me.
I started in an IT manager position at a hospital recently and I was looking for a book to help ease me into the new position. I had been a network administrator for 10 years and then a health information technology consultant for another 8 years before moving on to this position. I very much appreciated the chapters on dealing with employees and budgeting because this is something I had no experience in. I had been a lone wolf for 18 years just making prudent suggestions and installing/maintaining the solution. Being involved in project management, budgeting and setting goals for employees were things I had some anxiety about at first but this book really helped shed some light on the subject. It's isn't going to tell you how to do your job but it will definitely frame up what each component of the job deals with. I was especially appreciative of guidance working through your first 100 days in terms of what you should be doing and who you should be talking with ... and how. I am pretty confident I will do well at this new job and it will open the door to more things.

Great book for new IT Managers
I have a masters in IT Management but that was 5 years ago and much of that knowledge is gone from disuse. This book has a nice combination of common topics requisite to being a good IT Manager or even project manager.(Which is really what IT Managers are)Anyhow, check out a sample. It walks you through your first day at work, introductions.Things to avoid doing and things to focus on.Really nice to validate what I know AND learn new things to be the best manager/leader I can be.Good book, thanks.

Well structured and good value
Got this text book for a UCLA extension class on IT management. The book is very well structured, the author's ideas are easy to understand, language is simple yet the book provides great insights about the IT management role and give hundreds of links and sources to look for information over Internet. In general, is great starting point for anyone (including Non IT C level executives) who want to learn more about the challenges and what is possible to do with a well run IT division.Great value for my money!

I fairly complete book full of good ideas. Not the best I have read but very usable. The examples given ccould have been better presented but do fine at illustrating the ideas. If you are like me and come from a tech background and are now managing IT then this is a good resource to read through. Easy to read, chapters are well laid out.

IT Management How to
Read previous version of this over a year ago and found it a good summary of the breadth of what a IT Manager needs to know to get their job done. Picked this new release up as a refresher plus the additional updates related to BYOD, wireless and other new game changers in the industry. The book is definitely geared towards the new IT manager but still a good refresher.

Brief
introduzione veramente generale su quali siano le competenze richiesta ad un IT Manager. Il testo non si sofferma sufficientemente alle conoscenze di business process management, indispensabili oggigiorno.
