Grips the rod butt well
Fairly securely holds the rod butt when placed in the rest. Does this sufficiently enough to stop a carp run pulling the rod into the water, though you still have to be vigilant. Make sure you have at least 1ft of rod handle projecting behind the rest to ensure a good resistance when the rod is pulled forward due to a run.
