When I first got the Max Mattes black outdoor mat, I wasn’t expecting to be so impressed by something as seemingly simple as, well…a mat. But here I am, writing a long review about it because it genuinely deserves some attention. Right out of the box, you can tell it’s not just any regular mat—it’s thick, dense, and has this solid weight to it that makes it clear it’s built to last. It doesn’t have that flimsy rubber feel that curls up at the edges or slides around every time someone steps on it. This thing stays put. It’s made of some kind of durable rubber base combined with a really sturdy, almost bristly brush-like material on the surface. The combination creates this perfect balance of toughness and functionality. When you step on it, there’s this satisfying resistance under your feet, and you can literally feel it scraping off every bit of dirt, dust, and whatever else you’ve managed to collect on your shoes throughout the day. And despite being so effective, it doesn’t feel abrasive or rough when walking on it barefoot. One of the things I noticed right away is how well it handles outdoor conditions. I’ve got it set up by the back door, which sees a fair amount of foot traffic, weather exposure, and occasional puddles when it rains. But this mat doesn’t seem to care. Rainwater drains off efficiently, and it doesn’t get soggy or waterlogged like some mats do. It also doesn’t get that weird mildew smell after being wet for a while, which I’ve encountered with other mats in the past. And dirt doesn’t seem to embed itself deeply into the fibers, so a quick shake or rinse with a hose is usually enough to get it looking fresh again. The size is another big win here. It’s got ample coverage, giving plenty of space to comfortably wipe your feet without having to awkwardly shuffle around to hit the right spot. Whether it’s muddy boots, dusty sneakers, or just a quick step in bare feet, this mat takes it all in stride. I also appreciate the overall aesthetic of it. It’s a sleek black, which blends nicely into almost any setting without standing out too much. It doesn’t have any unnecessary patterns or over-the-top designs; it’s just a clean, professional-looking mat that does its job incredibly well. And while it feels very commercial-grade—like something you’d see at the entrance of an office building or a busy store—I love that it fits seamlessly into a home environment too. It feels like it was designed to handle both heavy-duty traffic and casual home use with equal efficiency. And honestly, there’s a certain peace of mind in knowing that it’s not going to start falling apart after a season or two. All in all, it’s clear that Max Mattes wasn’t messing around with this product. It feels premium, looks solid, and performs even better than I expected. If you’re tired of mats that slide, curl, fray, or just plain don’t work, this one is worth every penny. It’s the kind of mat that makes you realize how often we underestimate something as simple as a doormat—until you finally get one that actually does what it’s supposed to do.

I bought these for indoor use in a high traffic area of our community center. It is a durable rug that is made well. It is good quality, lays flat and is thick enough to hold its shape while keeping people from tracking in mud and dirt. It cleans up well.

I love the thick, sturdy rug material and actually use the burgundy rug indoors as a runner in a high-traffic area. The first rug I ordered had a factory defect with the rubber, but when I brought it to the store's attention they promptly refunded the cost and replaced it and the rubber was fine.

These are great rugs to help out in the winter time. I use them to help with my wheelchair tracking in snow.

This doormat is exactly what we were looking for. First of all the product coming in different sizes we were able to find just the right size we were looking for at the front door of our home, it stays in place and is so easily cleaned by simply sweeping it off, we are very pleased with it and would HIGHLY recommend this product.

So much better than I thought. This is heavy duty and heavy enough not to slip and slide on the floor. It also lies flat about a day after it’s unrolled. I’m using it for an exercise mat in my living room. I’m glad I chose this one. It’s also easy to clean with a vacuum or whisk broom.
