Abiyoyo & Other Story Songs for Children

really only listen to the Abiyoyo story song, and i love it. we have a picture book too ("ABIYOYO"), and i have been "reading" this book to my kids' classrooms for the last few years - i show them the book pages, and play the audio CD at the same time. kids in grades 1-4 have been enjoying! before i play them the CD song and show the book, i have them repeat after me and i sing the chorus abiyoyo, abiyoyo a few times... they love it. the melody and the drama of the story/song speaks to the kids. and it's a great opportunity for them to be exposed to a folk song, and one from Africa at that. very cool.

This saved us during our 5-hr car trip. Our toddler (2.75 yrs) loves it and will actually stop bugging his sister or whining mid-sentence to listen to Abiyoyo. He repeats phrases from the story. The Whale song he always asks to skip, as I think a modern toddler really cannot relate to whaling. A must have a great substitution to screen time!

Simply the best. Has inspired me to be a storyteller in my classroom. He has the children enthralled.... which is saying a lot in this digital hand held device world that they are being raised in.

I raised 3 children on this album and they are now using it with their children. The songs are relevant toThe children's lives and activities at any particularctime. They are fun to sing! The words are easy to learn.Now with Seeger passing away, this will be a valuable collector's item.

When my son was very small, we had an album (record) of Pete Seeger's "Sleepytime Stories and Songs"--a long time favorite in our house. Now that my son has children, we have been searching for a cd of the same material. At last I have found it under a different title, and now the little ones can enjoy this wonderfully dear album of work!!

My kids grew up with this and I was lucky to find a copy for grandchildren. It is Pete at his finest.

Abiyoyo is one of my grandson's favorite stories! When we got it we p,ayes the CD over and over! Since then, we have ordered our own book since the one we had was a library book. Love all of Seeger's kid stuff!

We had this album (back then it was a record) when I was young, and I remembered how much I liked it, so I bought it when my daughter was a year old. A little prematurely, perhaps. The shorter songs are great, and so catchy. I still remember most of the words after MANY years! The longer story songs are great, too, but more appropriate for older children with a longer attention span.

So refreshingly authentic
