Will and Grace: The Revival - Season One [DVD] [2018]

What a relief that this series didn't disappoint. If you were a fan of the original you will love the revival. The performances and chemistry are still there and plenty of laugh out loud moments in most of the episodes ... The only one that left me cold was the Christmas episode ... I know it was meant to be abit of fun but in my opinion it didn't work. The Rosario episode is fantastic.

All the major characters are back with just the same dynamic. Excellent. One that is missing is Rosario but the reason for that becomes apparent about the middle of the series. The series ending makes it clear that a further series is to follow. Great news.

I was disappointed with this after a few episodes so I decided to have a think about why. The answer was that there was nothing groundbreaking about this series it was well written, the cast were as good as always, it was funny, and then I realised my expectations were wrong. I didn't want 'new' Will & Grace I wanted this which is like putting on your favourite slippers. It's comfortable, familiar and relaxing to enjoy the same old, same old.

This dvd collection of the revival of Will and Grace did not disappoint. I’ve just received season 2 and can’t wait to binge on it. I’ve loved this programme from day one and the cast are just amazing. So funny. Jack and Karen just crack me up. Definitely recommend

Really good continuation series. Amazing that the original enthusiasm and energy continues after ten years being off screen. Still excellent story writing but maybe a bit more politically abrasive than the original. Very very funny.

Well, it turns out you can bring a 90’s and early 00’s hit back and have it feel both like it both never went away yet also new as well (and I’m not talking about ‘The X-Files’). Slipping into the opening episode ‘11 Years Later’ we get a gag laden wink to the audience as to why we’re ignoring the 2006 finale (sensible idea) then we’re instantly back into things like no time had passed. The chemistry is still present between the four leads and while the gags are sometimes as hit and miss as they were last time, with these actors it just feels good anyway. The revival’s first season is a bit of a mixed bag though. On the one hand it’s actually interesting to see characters I first met 20 years ago when they were young and fancy free now struggling with the fact they’re still single and fancy free..........but a little less young and still no wiser about dating! It’s unabashedly topical of the climate it now exists in, again, some zingers working better than others. There’s also maybe too much effort to bring back recurring characters from the original run as there’s a Val, a Leo and a Vince turning up almost every episode. Again, it feels like the show trying to clean up strands left over from before and hopefully the second (or tenth) season will move a little past that as when the show focuses on newer developments for the characters (such as serial dater Jack trying monogamy with a newly out younger man or Will re-evaluating his career later in life alongside a particularly strong episode when Karen deals with a great loss) the show works much better. There’s about half an hour of extras including a gag reel and a few featurettes about how the revival came back into existence etc. There’s probably a reason why but the original prompt for the reunion, the election special, isn’t included.

So glad Will & Grace are back on our screens! Not too sure on how they have glossed over big parts of the past but after this the series is great. Looking forward to season two!

They all look a little older and some a little botoxed but the chemistry is the same and the wit and sass is as razor sharp as ever. Can't wait for series 2. This is one reboot that deserves to run and run.

Série en anglais et sous titres uniquement en anglais. Mais quel bonheur de les retrouver avec toujours autant de bonne humeur et, une nouveauté, des critiques politiques bien trouvées!

Un reboot dopo più di dieci anni avrebbe potuto suscitare perplessità e timori... invece il tempo non sembra essere passato affatto e questa gemma rara di genialità comica non ha perso in verve e smalto... insomma Will & Grace rimane, a mio modesto parere, una delle migliori - se non la migliore in assoluto! - serie televisive comiche di sempre, con un cast ancora e sempre incredibilmente affiatato e in stato di grazia!

Ils n’ont pas changés, c’est tout simplement fabuleux. Dur à croire qu’il y avait quand même 10ans depuis la saison 8. Merci. :-)

Non riuscivo a stare senza

Toujours aussi drôle même dix ans après. Un vrai plaisir de retrouver la fine équipe de Wil et Grace. Top!
