Mechanical pencil eraser does the job
It fits perfectly in Papermate mechanical pencil. No smudge white erasers. Took a while to get here, but not that long and well worth it.

Exactly what I've been looking for - Works with Paper Mate Phd pencil.
I have this old Paper Mate Phd. mechanical pencil that I've used for years. Apparently they discontinued making these and I've been having a tough time trying to find a good replacement for the eraser. I was going to try the Paper Mate Clear Point erasers but I couldn't find only the erasers and I didn't want to buy a new pencil just to get the eraser.I ended up buying a pack off Amazon that looked promising, but they ended up being too skinny. Figured I would try one more time and came across Sumo Grip. Size looked good, highly praised in the comments, and they have similar pencils to the Phd. When the product came in, it looked a little wider than my eraser, but I was happy to find out that it was a perfect match. Now I'm going to buy a bunch so I never run out and can continue to use this pencil for a long time.

Replaced Mechanical Pencil Erasers

Apparently once you try Sumogrip you can’t go back.
My teenage daughter jumped for joy when these erasers came in. She started using the sumo grip and now she can’t draw with a regular pencil anymore. There is plenty of lead but her eraser ran out. She was so excited to get a refil!
