iLink Compatible
Smaller cable compatible with Sony's goofy 4pin iLINK setup. Cable worked great for hooking up various ancient Sony Handycams to a Win10 machine with a 1394A/B PCIe card.

It did the job
I wanted to move some videos from an old mini DV to digital format. With the new Macbook pro I needed adapters for my adapters for those adapters which needed other adapters to adapt to the adapters. You get the point. Luckily I had an old Macbook from like 2008 laying around and this wire connected perfectly and did the job I needed.Pro tip; if you need to move some things from a mini dv recorder, it might be cheaper to buy an old Macbook and this wire than to buy all of the adapters you'd need to get the job done with an updated Macbook.

It worked with a Sony DCR-TRV350 camcorder
The cable fit in the Sony DCR-TRV350 camcorder and was table to transfer digital video to a windows 10 PC over firewire.I did not do extensive tests (only a few minutes of video), but it worked.Of course as soon as the cable arrived I found the other cable I had, but I am going to keep this one as a spare.

Tight fit but works
Good quality. It was tight fit into my camera and the computer but it worked. Build is good. Just had to force the cable in...

This was a lifesaver
When I suddenly realized that I'd never downloaded the clips from the video camera we'd brought on our 2007 Hawaii vacation, I didn't think I'd ever find a firewire cable in 2024. I was wrong. Thankfully I still had the Windows 2000 computer, which has a firewire input, and it still runs. I was able to link the ancient video camera to the computer and download everything. I'll probably never use or need this cable again, but for the one time I needed it, it was great.

There obviously a difference in size
The Firewire end of the cable was bigger than the firewire receptacle on my ancient computer so it did not work.

Great cable!
Used this to transfer some videos from my Panasonic PV-DV910 MiniDV camcorder to my 2008 MacBook and it works perfectly. Nice and sturdy construction and plenty long.

old laptop to old scanner interconnect
I have a lot of documents to scan and the USB 2.0 interface between my scanner and my laptop wasn't cutting it. As it is, the Toshiba i7 I'm using happens to have a 4-pin IEEE 1394 ("FireWire") port on it, as does the scanner. This cable connects both and now the scanned document appears as soon as the scan is complete, rather than having to wait a few breaths for it to transfer over via USB. Nice. You could also use this to interface to an older MiniDV video camera if you still have tapes you need to read, assuming your devices have the appropriate ports.
