I have to fault find and repair all manner of electrical devices and sometimes these are fitted with a US plug. Rarely are they earthed and more often than not they can be swapped with an IEC C7 or C8, although on occasion the cable is hard wired.This adapter gives me exactly what I need for this purpose. The adapter provides support for a full 13 amp passthrough (3120 watts in total for our mains voltage) which is more than enough for my needs. As US plugs aren’t fused, this adapter is so there is built-in safety.If you need to adapt a US connector, earthed or not, to plug into a UK mains socket, this will fit your needs well and thanks to the full current rating of the unit, you don’t need to be overly cautious on the appliance you’re using. Just be mindful of the voltage requirements of the appliance as this is NOT a voltage stepper so will push the full 240v to the device. If you need to turn down the voltage, then you’d need a suitably connected Variac in your setup. £10 for a twin pack at the time of my order is very good value for the quality product you receive.

These are very well made adapters which allow American 115 volt plugs to use the UK's 240 volt sockets. However,, they do not incorporate a transformer so the device being used must be multi voltage. I am not aware of many US household products which are, unlike most laptop and some mobile phone chargers.The pin arrangements for American 240 volt plugs (there are several) differ again so these adapters would not be suitable for them. Then there is the issue that American mains power is delivered at 60 Hz but in the UK at 50 Hz.Very much in these adapters favour is that they cost considerably less than a last minute purchase in an airport shop.

You get two travel adapters and instructions in the box. The instructions state that these come with a safety feature, shutters that stop foreign objects from being pushed into the plug, i have checked both plugs and neither have shutters in them. Apart from this these do what they are designed for, ( they do not convert the voltage, they are meant to take 240/250 volt items ).

This adapter allows US electrical equipment that is able to operate at 220v/50Hz to be plugged into a standard UK plug socket. I am using them to allow US guests to charge their laptops and iPhones using their US plugged adapters.

Upon receiving this adapter, I was quite pleased with its multiple USB-C ports and just one USB, which is far more suitable for our needs compared to other adapters that typically have one USB-C and two USB ports. Since our iPad and both phones are now all USB-C connected, this was the perfect solution. My wife was so impressed with it that she requested an additional one as a backup for our upcoming trip to New Zealand and Australia.

Well built but just remember this plug does not change the voltage so ensure the device you are using can support 240V, this is not likely to the case for hairdryers, kettles, hair tongs etc.Laptop chargers etc would normally be perfect
