I used this to separate a lower ball joint on my van while changing wheel bearings. I bought it as a 'just in case' because I didn't have one. I'm now glad I did because it saved me. It was easy to fit into place and it was effortless separating the ball joint. They feel robust and I think would take a bit of abuse. The kit comes in a sturdy case and wasn't very expensive. Good value really. Highly recommend.

The bigger of these tools did the job, however it has resulted in the tool itself bending, along with the pin. I wouldn't put this all on the tool, however, as a stubborn old ball-joint put up a fight and required a stupid amount of force. It did the job in the end, but not sure it would last much longer.
