I went one-for-one making my first acme thread with this to help me grind my HSS cutter and thread the shaft. Does the job.Sure, you could buy 1/10th of a Starrett 284 for the price, but then you have to share it with like 9 other guys and that's probably inconvenient.

Handy, compact thread gauge for creating an acme tool. It contains the 29 degree included angle, and the tip sizes appropriate for each thread size. I used the tool to help me grind a 5 TPI acme tool from a HSS tool blank. I then used the tool to make a 5 TPI acme thread on my lathe.It appears the notches are somewhat crudely cut out. They work, but I deducted a star due to workmanship. Overall, a functional tool, although the tip notches could be more finished.

This is very good quality for the price. Going to work great for me.

This thing is well built and will definitely not bend or break during normal use way better quality then expected!

good value, excellent form and finish. i used it immediately when grinding a 1/2" x 10tool bit and the resulting thread fit the inside thread mating half.

I was not impressed with the cut quality of this gauge but did not leave a review until I realized that the size 7 slot actually measured larger than the size 6 slot. I was grinding a size 6 tool when I realized there was a problem.

Looks like it will work when it comes time to grind a 1/2-10 tool for acme threading on the lathe.
