Q: Is the connection simple as mounting outside/running power cord inside to outlet, and open app for programming and connect with Xfinity Wi-Fi router?

This is my first security camera so... You do not have to hook up the ethernet connection to setup the camera. You will have to let it setup a temp wifi network that the camera uses to communicate with the router to your device until it completes the connection with your 2.4 Ghz local network. SIMPLE? I dont know about that. But i highly recommend downloading the full user manual per enclosed instructions. They provide better connecting instructions. But i still havent found fully detailed operational instructions. I.E. how to turn the flood lite 'ON' or 'OFF' at will.

Q: how long is the warranty?

1 year and I used it once out of 4 cameras. Service was extremely good and reasonably fast.

Q: Do I have to put up with the video chop since it's impossible to adjust frames per second in the app? Will a ethernet cable reduce the video chop?

I wired mine with Ethernet cable and I’m about 200 feet away from it. Mine is good and clear. Wired mine because my router is in a meatball building.
