Jelly Beads ® are designed to absorb water, expanding up to 200 times the original size. Polymer is biodegradable and therefore, Jelly Beads ® have a wide range of different uses. Jelly Beads ® are originally designed to use as a water substitute in vases and can also replace soil for certain kinds of plants. To use Jelly Beads ®, you simply pour a 5g pack into 400ml of water and allow at least 8 hours for the beads to absorb the water and expand. Once fully expanded, one 5g pack can produce over 1 pint of beads and the water can be drained away allowing the beads to be used in the desired manner. The beads will slowly release water over a long period of time and consequently, will slowly decrease in size. Soak the beads again in water and the Jelly Beads ® will return to their expanded state.
