Works perfect for my 2.5g ethernet
i'm middle aged, so when i got an offer to upgrade my internet to 2.5g speed, i had no idea i'd need an adapter. thank goodness they make tech like this for people like me, simple plug-and-play devices that require no tech skills or smarts. just MAKE SURE you have a 3.0 USB port. most modern PCs and laptops have them (after 2018-2019ish), but make sure before buying. the port should say 3.0 above or next to it, or you can google your PC model and find out whether you have 3.0 ports. trust me, i experimented plugging this adapter into a regular USB port, and it didn't work--no 2.5g download speed. but i put it in the 3.0 port, and presto, my speed was something like 2.7, even a little faster than advertised. it's a solid little unit, well built, some folks say you need to update its drivers but i didn't have to, it worked right out of the box (whew). it connected right away and i believe it's compatible with all Windows devices that have a 3.0 USB port. whoever dreams up and makes these handy little USB devices for those of us who don't upgrade our hardware every couple of months, i give you my heartfelt middle-aged thanks.

Solid and Affordable Linux Solution
Works well on Debian 12 after config file edit. My network adaptor and switch upgrade produced a nice speed boost, moving files is twice as fast.

faaaaaast.
Transfers data quickly and works well. Pair with a USB-A to USB-C superspeed adapter to connect phones and tablets directly to the wired network and experience internet speeds you’d never believe. I’m using this with a Ryzen 5700X3D on a AsRock B550 PG 4/AC in place of the built-in gig ethernet adapter and it’s made a huge difference in network speeds. It also doesn’t get hot.

Nice
EDIT (2024-09-07): After ordering a second adapter of this model and finding that one was also not working, I dug deeper and realized the USB ports I was plugging these adapters into is USB 3 Gen 2. After realizing this, I tried Gen 1 ports instead and noticed both adapters are working as specified. So, clearly these do not work with USB 3 Gen 2 ports; at least not in my personal experience. So, keep that in mind if you have a newer motherboard and are intending to use this adapter with those ports. And feel free to let me know if you have had a different experience. So, out of the four Ugreen USB adapters I've ordered (2 of these; 1 USB-c to Ethernet 2.5G; 1 USB-c to HDMI), only one of them was defective and needed to be returned (USB-c to HDMI). Hence, I have adjusted my review from 1-stars to 4-stars to reflect my recent discovery. I took off 1 star due to Ugreen not clearly stating that this adapter is USB 3 Gen 1 only, which would provide clarification for those purchasing this for a newer motherboard. --- ORIGINAL REVIEW: This company's products are hit or miss. They work great when they work, but good luck playing their lottery. I've ordered two adapters from them in the past (one USB-C to HDMI and a USB 3.0 to Ethernet) and neither adapter worked. And I know it's their adapter in both cases because if I swap them out for another brand's adapters everything works fine. The only reason I switched to UGREEN is because they claim to have faster speeds. This leads me to believe they are not properly testing their products before shipping them... or they need to hire better QC personnel. The USB-C to HDMI adapter at least partially worked, but the sound was all staticky and cutting in and out. This USB 3.0 to Ethernet doesn't work at all. I get no network connection or signal. None. Their ethernet cables work great, so I'll give them credit there. I'm ordering a third adapter to give them one more chance, but if that doesn't work, it's strike three and I'll stick to the other company I alluded to above.

Plug and play with advertised speed. Even rebooting system is not needed
Plug and play, works like a charm. Ugreen products never disappointed me. The card in my Asus mainboard started to drop connection. Fixed with this little dongle. Works like a charm under Windows 11.

Upgrading my Network
I usually don't write reviews but this adapter is great, i recently made the move to 2.5g in my nextwork and im running unifi gear and proxmox for my home lab. This was super easy to setup with linux. I now have the freedom of 2.5g from my pc to my home lab and my NAS. Great price as well! It was very compatible with my small homelab pc and offered super fast speeds!

Works flawlessly on Windows 11 and Kubuntu 24.04 without having to look for any drivers! Clocks in at 2,5 Gbit as advertised just make sure that your router / switch also supports it! Some routers will state they have one 2,5 Gbit RJ45 socket and they usually mean the WAN connection to your internet supplier - NOT your LAN. Double check this before purchasing ;)

⭐ Voto complessivo: 5 / 5
