Love love love. I just couldn't live without it.
I purchased my Surface Pro 3 from a different site a few months ago and just wasn't sure I could justify the cost of a keyboard. Once I got the Surface and played with it for a bit, I found that I honestly couldn't live without a keyboard. I am a blogger for a website and honestly purchased the Surface to have something light and portable for the posts and for my photography storage/editing. So once I finally decided to bite the bullet on cost, I came over to Amazon to buy a keyboard. I had a terrible time choosing a color. Black is so boring but professional looking... I liked the bright blue but I wasn't crazy about the navy one. And just not feeling the purple... That left red. So now that I've narrowed down to my favorite color, I actually chose to browse the used section to see if there was anything I could find worth my time. The buyer for this had only used it once because he was given 2 as gifts. I ended up paying just shy of $75 for it and must say that I don't regret the decision to buy. Even through third party, the shipping (not prime) was fast. I got it within 5 days of purchase. The keyboard itself is great. I love how compact it is, how light and yet so functional. It's just like any other laptop keyboard in how the button press feels. The size of the board is a touch small but there's only so much you can cram when you're restricted by size. I'd say that it would be small for a man and just right for a woman with petite hands. It's not a deal breaker by any means! I love the color, I love the velvet feel on the outside. I will also mention that the keyboard, while meant to serve as a protective cover of sorts, fits perfect in the case that I purchased for the Surface. It attaches and fits just perfect enough to where I can still close it over the keyboard and pen holder and the magnets do their job to keep it shut.

Great Accesory
SMOOOth, the first lap top I ever wanted and drooled over was a Sony vio, and I can to this day fantasize about having a lap top and taking it any where and using the eraser like cursed in the middle of the typing board with me like a real G slash playa! Now that was in 05 back when I had no job no money, 10 years later see myself feeling the same with this surface pro 3. I like the versatile pc/tablet but it was missing one thing to complete the process. In come this type cover , and it is sleek its nice -Details. Has a light to illuminate the keys. A search button a connect button settings button, aside from the buttons I feel like the whole components feel top notch, the cover feels like better then a rock stars jacket. SNAPon/SNAPoff that clicks with magnetic tip to adjust the dial. track pad has extra motions gestures like 3 finger tap that brings up the action center. The best thing about it was I purchased it for the low maybe $55 and unlike all the other used ones that all said no Pen holder and were asking for 80 90+ and this one came with the pen holder. Completes the whole git up. Windows 10 brotha Lol

Nice - Slim and Functional
Having used this Surface Pro Type Cover for nearly two weeks: it is responsive and has a light but definite feel to each keystroke, very much like that of a full laptops. The Type Cover is only a touch thicker than cardboard and weighs about the same. The backing to the keys is solid but has a light and airy-feel too; it provides a sturdy rest that is best used with a light to moderate typing force. If the keys are pressed too hard there is a slight 'give' to the frame. Similarly the track-pad is well done and can be pressed down for a mechanical left-click instead of just touch-tapping, which is useful at times. Their is a tape-on loop that comes with the Type Cover as well, so you can conveniently store your pen on it at the location of your choosing. It works well, but it also wraps my SP3 pen a bit too tight and it's more of a fight to remove the pen than it should be. Perfectly paired with Microsoft's SP3, it almost needs to be bought with it. Then again I suppose it helps keeps costs down on what is, at the end of the day, an accessory and it is also a simple way for one to choose their preferred color.

Good Cover and keyboard. Horrible material.
Lets be clear, I love my surface pro 3. Its a great little laptop/tablet. I'm a photographer and have loaded photoshop and lightroom and lots of plug-ins and the thing is fast and beautiful. But it cries out for a keyboard and the fact that it doesn't come with one is just plain silly. Actually more than silly.... its downright maddening. I wouldn't have minded if microsoft has bundled the surface with a cheap keyboard that could be upgradeable to something fancier, but to call this thing a laptop or desktop replacement and then sell it without a keyboard is just wrong. So, I bought this Cyan type cover. Obviously being made by microsoft, it fits the surface pro 3 quite well. It types well and has big enough keys that I don't feel like I am typing on a lillipution keyboard. The track pad is decent enough as track pads go. I hear it is a huge improvement of the last cover microsoft put out The blue color is lovely. When closed around the surface it shuts down the display which is excellent and it gives good protection for the glass. So, in all these ways it is a great cover/keyboard. You So what's my complaint? Why is this a fabric? Its like a weird fake suede or some other fabric that is an absolute dust magnet. I live with a few four legged creatures and it is next to impossible for this keyboard to live here without attracting loose fur, and dust. I am also not hopeful that it will last very long without looking terribly ratty. After 2 weeks it is already starting to show signs of wear. And because it is this weird fabric you have to be very very very careful where you put this down. Make sure whatever surface you are placing it on is absolutely clean because if not, whatever dust or dirt it rests on will be transfered to this cover. You can't just wipe it off the way you could with a smooth plastic or metal cover. Honestly, if I was working for microsoft I would have demoted -- if not fired -- the engineers who designed this. Or perhaps they are being given raises because the faster this keyboard gets ruined the more replacement sales there will be. There is one other minor complaint.... the pen holder loop that you are supposed to somehow stick onto the cover fell off before the first day was over. I have no idea if I simply got a defective one or whether others have had the same problem but it is a stupid little thing that this isn't somehow better built into the cover. As I said, to call this an optional accessory is absolutely ludicrous. You just can't use this as the serious computer microsoft touts it as being without a keyboard. Grrrrrrrr. BOTTOM LINE: Works well, good trackpad, Horrible fabric, but it's the cover that fits the surface so you might as well spring for it if you want to do serious computing.

Exceeded my expectations and is a lot better than I could imagine.
I want to start by saying that I had low expectations of this keyboard for a couple reasons: 1. because it's super thin and light I thought it would be weak and flimsy and that it would be hard to type because there will be very minimal key travel. 2. because it doesn't have built in battery or power I assumed it would be a bit weak or unresponsive or have no backlight. 3. because it looks like it is 'flexible' and will be hard to use on uneven surfaces such as on your bed or in your lap for example. My main issue is not having to worry about carrying around an extra charger or having to charge an extra keyboard along with the Surface Pro, as well as something that isn't too bulky but seems to have everything I need for work, school, and entertainment. This one was the best fit so I gave it a try. As I'm writing this review using this keyboard, I'm amazed at how fast and responsive that keys are, as well as how well I'm able to type without missing a key or having to backspace. The keyboard has very good key travel and Is very accurate. It also have a backlit keyboard that is adjustable! The keyboard on the outside is made up of a soft material but the inside is solid and rigid. This will help the aesthetic of the keyboard by keeping it from denting, cracking, or scratching as easily compared to metal or plastic. Overall I love this keyboard and I highly recommend this for anyone who isn't sure what they want and need something good that works. The only reason you should get a different keyboard is if it offers something specifically that you want that this doesn't have, if not, this keyboard will most likely outclass most of the other keyboards out there in all areas. PROS: - Light and thin but strong and rigid at the same time. - Backlit with 5 different brightness levels. - Good key travel and feedback for fast and accurate typing. (better than most laptops but still behind Lenovo ThinkPad) - Multitouch touchpad can be used to scroll and zoom. - Does not require charging or additional batteries/chargers. - Soft material prevents and hides dents and scratches. - Fully functional keyboard layout with all necessary keys without becoming awkward. - Multiple colors to choose from. - Pen holder if wanted/needed. - Hold 'Fn' and press 'Del' to increase Surface Pro 3 brightness, and 'Backspace' to decrease it. (Useful tip) CONS: - a tad expensive for a keyboard. ($120 is almost the price of some laptops!) - no magnet or strap to keep keyboard closed against the Surface Pro 3.

A few flaws, but an easy fix if you are patient. Highly recommended buy.
This keyboard is excellent. I have had it for a few days now and the only problems that I have are relatively small and easy to fix. One problem that I saw was that the space bar, at times, would not recognize that I hit it. The reason? My battery was very low on my Surface Pro 3. The fix? Plug in the Surface! Remember, the keyboard runs on your Surface's battery, so if you have low power, then the keyboard may act up. The second problem that I saw was that the back of the keyboard would collect lint or fuzz from my HEX case. This isn't a big deal, I usually pick it off or take tape and remove to fuzz. The third problem was of my own fault. The keyboard's layout is a lot different from that of my work computer and my old laptop, so I would hit the wrong keys. After a few hours of using it, though, I was up to speed with typing, again. If you have this same problem, don't worry, and keep practicing. Muscle memory will get you up to your typing speed once again. The final problem that I found was that when you have the keyboard in the angled position (not flat), connected to the screen, it is hard to swipe from the bottom of the screen. It's annoying, but not a really big deal, because there is the mouse track pad that you can use. However, the keyboard feels amazing to type on. The keys are smooth and your fingers glide over them. There are very helpful shortcuts on it where the F keys are and the overall layout is gorgeous. Another awesome factor is that the keys light up and you can change the brightness of the keys and turn the black light off, too. This is perfect for if you are a college student and your roommate is sleeping. You can type your paper, or play video games, and see what you are doing. With the simple, chic, design of the keyboard and all of the functions that it has to offer, this is the perfect accessory for the Surface. The price is a little high, but when you look at everything that you get from it you are paying for exactly what you are getting, which is excellence.

The keyboard itself is very good and functional
This keyboard has a single and big flaw. The keyboard itself is very good and functional, its got a magnetic base that is VERY effective and also has a small magnetic strip so the keyboard if desired can be set at an angle or just flat on the desk/surface whatever. The thing works great as a cover for the surface as well. The BIG drawback is that it appears on the picture to have a very convenient place for the stylus. This is NOT the case. The keyboard itself has NO STYLUS HOLDER!!!! What you get is a 2 piece combo in this particular package One being the keyboard itself and Two being this little sticky tab that's got a little elastic stylus holder THAT'S RIGHT ITS AN ADD ON NOT A PART OF IT!!! So my gripe is that i spend 150 on this keyboard and i have to put a sticker on the thing to hold the stylus when its advertised that its got a pen holder? I would expect something to be actually "BUILT IN" not added on otherwise i would be completely satisfied with this as it works great but just falls short.

Don't try to get a different Bluetooth keyboard or something like that. Nothing is as easy or works as ...
This is essential if you have a Surface Pro 3. Don't try to get a different Bluetooth keyboard or something like that. Nothing is as easy or works as well as this: snap it in, and it instantly works. It's not wireless, so there's no pairing, no batteries, no waiting for a connection. It's kind of amazing how much travel is on these keys despite how thin this thing is. I have typed short stories on this with no issues. Despite that you can angle it up with the magnets near the screen, I'd recommend leaving it flat on your desk. Feels better to type on. The trackpad is nice, yet a little cramped. However, you probably won't use it a lot since you've got a 12" touchscreen. Don't try to use this on your lap unless you're in a real bind. It'll work, but not very well. Too flimsy, and the Surface is clearly top heavy since that's where everything is. I got the Cyan color, but if I could do it again, I'd get the dark blue or another dark color. Cyan is too light and gets dirty easily.
