Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Rusty Metal Primer Spray is high-quality paint that works really well. The texture is smooth, it sprays evenly, and the coverage is excellent. The finish comes out nice and consistent, making it easy to use even on larger projects. Rust-Oleum offers a great variety of colors. I got the flat brown, and while it’s exactly the color of the cap, I thought it would look different on my project—it’s more of a reddish-brown than I expected. That said, it’s still a quality product and worth the money. Overall, I’m happy with how it performed.

So I actually got a refund on this - why ?? I bought 2 cans and they had small dents - a little leakage at the top on one - and the exterior labels were stained- a little bit of rust on the lids - and they looked like they had been in the back of someone’s garage for the last 10 years. So I took a picture which I can’t find now (this was last summer) - Did not open them so I could return them. Talked to customer service and they refunded my money- and said keep em. - so at this point I transferred the paint to another container - The ironic thing was I ended up not using the paint until this past summer- it was still ok (had it in a plastic jug) I had an old Laundry pole that was quite rusted- I removed what rust I could - painted them up with this and it has end up out in the weather for months. Oh and I liked the color so I did not paint over it. So the paint itself gets a 5 - Hopefully you will get better containers -

This is the best affordable oil base primer you can buy in my opinion. I have used this primer on everything over the years and have never ever had a comeback. Brush, spray, or roll on it goes on really nice. It drys evenly and if you need to sand this primer a little you can if you want. The trick is get everything thouroughly clean first before application. I knock all the rust off I possibly can, wash with tide, apply Ospho, wipe on wipe off with Prepsol or panel wipe, and apply this primer in a few light coats. This applies with rustoleum primer or paint. Do not thin greater than 10% use mineral spirits. If you want it to lay out smooth with a brush add a little bit of flood penetrol this will slow drying time yet will help it go on nicer. Penetrol will help with rust too. After it's dry coat it with rustoleum paint and you will have a really nice long lasting durable finish. Great deal on Amazon I was surprised.

Good primer for old tractors and farm equipment. Works well with top coat.

This Primer does a great job of prepping and protecting rusted surfaces. It goes on evenly, covers well, and really helps stop rust from spreading before applying a topcoat.

Got it as a base coat but I think I'm just going to leave the truck this color. I really like it! Best primer I've bought!

Works well. Lots of coverage. Have to hold it quite a ways off the metal because the product comes out heavy. It works a little different than most regular can paints. Once you adjust the distance, it works really well.

I painted my engine block and used this to prime. It laid down very nice and dried flat and even. Also, it took little to cover, so it goes a long way. I highly recommend this quality primer for your metal projects.

Haven’t yet used . Great price arrived quickly

After doing a lot of research on different primers I decided to go with this one. Price was decent. I used it to prime a trailer I had torn down, modified, and rebuilt. It covered well. Dried quickly. I'm not an expert on priming and painting. But I was very satisfied with the results. I would get this primer again.

Good quality and easy to use. Only the price is higher than the other bands.
