Something ADORABLE for all skill levels!
I could NOT wait to get this book! It contains patterns for all kinds of harry potter characters, creatures, and objects. Including the most adorable skell-e-gro bottle, the Howler letter, the elder wand, Cornish pixi, norbert the baby dragon, flying keys, and golden snitch! Some of the characters I think are so cute are Luna lovegood with her purse and glasses, professor sprout with a bunch of cute accessories including a little mandrake plant...the detail is exquisite!!! In the back there is a guide to various stitches and their abbreviations along with online resources on where to get the various yarns and materials (which i found very Helpful since local craft store selections can be spotty) I'm so glad I got this book and you will be too!

Perfect for the Harry Potter fan
Needed a gift for my daughter’s teacher. Found out she was a fan of Harry Potter and crochet. This book was very comprehensive, with over 35 patterns that had varying skill levels of stitches and techniques.

Can’t wait to start!
I bought this book to make the characters for a friend who loves HP. The directions seem easy to follow and include pictures of the different stitches. The color guide is a great reference. I haven’t started making them yet but the are next on my project list. I live the diversity of the characters, beasts, and items like the snitch and the mermaid’s egg. I plan to make them all!

A couple months in and after several patterns made. This is my final review.
I almost rated this 3 stars because my one major complaint stomps on my last nerve with this book. There is absolutely NO consistency from one pattern to the next. I made Hagrid which required all #4 (worsted) yarn. Perfect. Lovely. Then I went to make Professor Sprout with some of the same colors, except no, she is made completely with #2 yarn. Oh…okay. So I then went to make Snape instead. Well. He’s made with #1 yarn. And his finished height is shorter than Sprout. (Which, I’m not expecting movie accurate proportions here but come on.)At the very minimum, I feel like the characters should have all been made with the same type of yarn, ESPECIALLY when so many colors could have been used on several of the dolls. This was a huge oversight in my opinion, and makes me want to ask the writers what they were thinking. lol.The pros, this book is really beautiful, even though I am heavily annoyed at the lack of consistency in the yarn used, this book feels like a collectors item. The pages are beautiful and the colors are bright. There are also a lotttt of patterns. Which seamlessly brings me to my next point, the patterns are well written but I wouldn’t say they are beginner friendly. They seem to rely heavily on the user already having quite a bit of crochet experience, which is fine, that’s what YouTube is for. But certain instructions could have easily been included to make this much more beginner friendly. After working through a few more patterns I had to drop my review one star. I’ve noticed a few typos which is totally forgivable. But what’s totally unacceptable in a crochet pattern book are missing rows. On Dumbledoor’s coat, row 13 and 14 are missing. I figured out a way to continue fine but I should not have had to. Missing rounds in a pattern book isn’t just an oversight, it’s totally unacceptable. You need a new editor.I do not recommend this book. I have made every professor and every. Single. One. Has a major typo in the pattern that would make it impossible to move past if you are a beginner and don't understand how to correct it. Example saying to decrease over the next 22 stitches when it actually means to decrease over the next 2 stitches. This is one of SEVERAL I found. I am convinced not a single person proof read a single one of their patterns. It is truly unbelievable.TLDR; the book is not worth the money, unless you don't mind correcting every single pattern you make, needing every color under the sun in every single weight that yarn comes in because there is no consistency from one pattern to the next, and none of the characters being consistent in size or style so none of them look like they "belong" together. It is nice sitting on a shelf as a collectors type item and is fine as a base to get the general idea of how to make something. There are way too many major typos that effect the patterns significantly. And there are also missing rounds/rows, which I find unacceptable when writing a pattern book. I recommend searching for better quality patterns, not just a good quality book.
