This had an incredibly potent flavor of garlic and onion, perfect for someone with an allium intolerance looking for an allium replacer. Sadly, it irritated my stomach.

I am suffering from acid reflux and as part of my healing, I have to give up garlic and onion powder. I love garlic and onion and put it on just about everything. This season has saved me. I am able to get a flavor that is close to onion and garlic powder without the consequence of an upset stomach. I’m so glad to have found it. Quality is good. Tastes is good. I’ll continue to buy

I bought this to try a tasting history recipe. I'm not sure what else I'll ever use it for. This stuff is pungent, it will absolutely blow out your smell recpetors. I was an EMT and was on a few welfare check calls where a neighbor had passed and we were called in to check.on them, usually we would find a body that had been undiscovered for a week or two. This smell is right up there with that.

I bought this because I eat a lot of legumes, and I heard that it conveys a nice onion/garlic type flavor to a dish while also making beans easier to digest. Well, I'm not sure about the digestive effects, but it really does add a nice flavor to dishes. Go easy, though. Season, cook a while, then taste. I made the mistake of over using this the first time, and it is a very strong flavor, a little goes a long way. It has a very distinctive, not-so-pleasant smell, but that goes away entirely when it's incorporated into a dish. Big recommend from me.

I ordered the spice asafoetida and the first ingredient is wheat flour! The second ingredient is some sort of food safe gum which is far less offensive. Finally, number 3 ingredient is actually asafoetida! I ordered this to make a delicious chutney and now if I make it with this WHEAT FLOUR, I won't be able to give it to my 2 friends who cannot eat gluten. Since this is a food item, Amazon is not letting me return it. I cannot find any way to communicate with anyone at Amazon to express my disappointment and hopefully come to some mutually agreed upon solution.

Haven’t tried it yet but to me the smell is not as offensive as others claim. Smells like onion and garlic powder. I will update once I’ve tried it. I’m a little disappointed that the best by date is only 3 months out and food items are not eligible for return. Rarely do you use enough of a spice to warrant only a 3 month full quality time frame. This was shipped by amazon directly so probably not the seller’s fault.
