Includes almost every technic mechanism
Take note the set is NOT electric, the title is saying the crane - in real life - is electric, not that this lego set is motorised. Lego wouldn't sell an electric set for less that £250 now days hahaI like it when sets have either one of every technic mechanism, or focus heavily on one particular element. This set has almost all the neat features technic sets usually have - which makes it great for people new to technic, but doesn't lean particularly hard into any mechanism. Bit of a Jack-of-all-Trades set.It has 4-way pneumatics, rear open differential, moving pistons which ride a mock crackshaft connected to the rear drive train with gimbal joints. Gearing for things like raising and lowering the ramp and trailer stands. None of them are particularly unique implementations but the fact it includes all of them makes this a great set overall. More sets need moving pistons and diffs!! Would have loved to see suspension but while theorising adding some in my self - the space is admitadly very tight without making it weirdly tall or an unrealistic proportion. The pneumatics aren't great because of the poor seals on the leaver blocks make the crane fall when switching modes. This happens of a any sets where the pistons carry weight. You can fix this with silicon grease sealing the levers (smooth the pistons too, less friction and more seal).I was going to put 4 star because of the leaky pneumatics and I think they could have got it a bit closer to the real truck with similar parts. BUT there's a perfect space and easy access to drivetrain gears for adding a technics motor, almost like they planned to make this remote control before launch, all you need is a longer crankshaft through the engine and stick a motor on the end behind the cab. Steering is a bit harder but it's dooable with some small gears and a servo motor. The build was great too, only a few parts got fiddly - the joy of seeing like 50 black 1 unit pegs in one bag and knowing your fingers will be smoothed off by the end haha. Overall very fun took about 4 days going slowly (e.g. I like to make sure all the pegs are rotated the same way... I take my time lol). There was multiple times during the build I had a "oooooh that's what it is" after building some weird mass of pegs and L-blocks. 5/5 build funLooking forward to more Volvo and other trucks!!

Need to get your brain in gear
My wife bought me this for an early birthday present, it's been many hours of concentration to finish it. Fun to build. Next problem is, now what do I do with it?
