Bought for my son. Absolute loves this and for the joy it brings great value for money. Love the steam and the light and looks amazing. Engine is heavy and really well built and the overall quality of the track and carriages is great. Would definitely recommend

A very good train set
The media could not be loaded. The Price: slightly on the higher endSturdiness: the main train and the battery carriage is sturdy, otherwise the other carriages are plastic. The rail tracks light plastic. Can be 'flimsy'.Smoke: yes, alot very good steam strainLights for the carriage: underneath the carriage.Anything I can suggest for improvements: more train tracks for the price paid for, use hard plastic for tracks same as the carriages if not metal or sold material.Overall: It is a: good gift for anyone, for under the Christmas Tree, additional train set, decoration for the house.

Great train set, so pleased with it!
The media could not be loaded. After having to return a faulty model from a different make (the Lionel Polar Express one) I was hesitant about this one as it looked as though the only decent train sets are the Hornby models which are completely unaffordable. How wrong I was - this model is fantastic!! I’m so pleased with it, it’s super easy to set up and works perfectly. The steam function and interior carriage lights really make it that bit better than all the others on the market in this price range. I’m so happy with it - I’ve wanted one of these my entire life so I feel like a big kid now with my train set around the Xmas tree!

Like others said, no battery box & not metal
Definitely not as advertised. Not metal, all plastic, and the same issue as others, it has no battery box to add batteries so it cannot run at all. I don’t even see any connectors that would make a battery box work even if there was one.

Real steam! Great sounds, good quality, perfect for our Christmas tree
The media could not be loaded. The steam engine is metal - the carriages are plastic but it's all well made. When you press the start button it makes proper train starting noises and steam comes out of the funnel, which is a hoot. We got it for our Christmas tree and it's perfect for that. Switching on the carriage lights is a bit fiddly but when it's all lit up and running it's very entertaining. Recharging is via a supplied USB connection (you need a plug though) and the charge seems to be lasting well. All in all a great choice of train. It helps that the sound effects aren't deafening, too!

Brilliant train set
We purchased this item to go around our Christmas tree and it did not disappoint. The (cold) steam effect vapour from the chimney is very realistic and the illuminated carriages are great.Anyone who doesn't like the sound effects (they could become annoying after a time I suppose) could possibly (in theory) try dismantling the engine and clip a wire to the loud speaker - I haven't done this as I think the sound is OK, although perhaps it could be a bit quieter. Our grandchildren loved it. Overall a good purchase, yes it is on the expensive side but the cheaper ones aren't as good in my opinion.

Not suitable for young children - sent back
Thought this looked good for the price, but very delicate plastic on the train that looked as if it would break if dropped. Too fragile for kids - apart from the remote controller which looks pretty sturdy. Didn't set it up so don't know what the track is like. Sent back.
