Transformers Japanese Masterpiece Collection Ultra Magnus Action Figure MP-22 [Perfect Edition] by Transformers

This toy is incredible. I'm a huge fan of Ultra Magnus, particularly his character design, and this figure completely nails that G1 Magnus goodness. First off, he is MASSIVE. He towers over the rest of the Masterpiece line (with the exception of Star Sabre, who I could not care less about). This may be an issue for you, as he was always portrayed as larger than, say, Optimus Prime, but not THIS much larger. MP-10 doesn't even come to Magnus' armits. If this is an issue for you, be aware, but there is a reason for this, and the reason is that his transformation is AWESOME. The original G1 Ultra Magnus was a white Optimus Prime clone with a separate trailer that transformed over his body to make the recognizable Ultra Magnus we saw in the cartoon and animated movie. MP-22 transforms fully from a truck with attached trailer to robot form in a seamless way that is incredibly fun and intuitive. All the mass from Magnus' trailer being included in his robot form is why he is so much bigger than Prime, who has a detachable trailer (you can also detach MP-22's cab from the trailer in vehicle mode, just because it is that cool of a toy).Being as massive as he is, Magnus is not as posable as the smaller Masterpiece Transformers, but he has a reasonable range of motion, and nice, heavy die-cast feet to keep him from tipping over. You can detach his shoulders slightly to make him more posable, and there is a full third-party shoulder replacement kit available, but really he's great as he is. Ultra Magnus also has some neat extras, like changeable faces (he comes with "stern" and "yelling", which is SO Ultra Magnus), a chest compartment that can fit MP-10's Matrix and hands that can grip it (but not the Matrix itself; booooooo), a big rifle, and some weird and kinda blobby-looking figures of Spike and Daniel Witwicky that can sit in his cab in vehicle form (not gonna lie, they have never even been removed from the packaging in my house).Yes, Ultra Magnus is expensive. But when you get the package in the mail, it will feel totally worth it. This is a fantastic figure with tons of attention to detail and extremely high quality across the board. The Spike and Daniel figures aren't great, and Magnus doesn't look as incredible from the back as the front, but who displays their Transformers' backs? I recommend MP-22 with no reservations, he is the best toy.

This is truly a masterpiece.There have been a lot of reviewers that comment how this figure looks better in hand than in their pics or videos, and is true. Somehow this figure gain so much personality when you have it, all the bulkyness from the promo pictures and the wierd poses do not make this piece justice.Yes Ultra Magnus is big (as big as MP-01) and he is widht, but he does not look like a brick. He can achieve some very dynamic poses and look great along another Masterpieces, even when towering all of them.The sculpt and robot mode are trust to the g1 characters with some aesthetics updates, regarding the proportions of the figure.The transformation is kind of tricky on the arms, but beyond that is pretty easy, the plastic is sturdy, and all pieces fit perfectly. You won't feel like you are going to break it any time soon...The alt mode is great, and have the plus of the detaching the cabin, which is a great achivement considering this is one big robot.he came with his laser rifle, two interchangeable holding hands and Spike and Daniel.The only thing missing is a matrix of leadership that fit on its chest, since you will have to borrow the MP 10 one... is a shame since the inner chest is crazy detailed.It is a great adittion for your Autobots ranks and I'm pretty sure the price for Ultra Magnus will rocket to the sky very soon, as have been common in this line so far...So don't think too much and grab it while you can

I don't think there's ever going to be a better piece than this. That's it. I've been collecting transformers since I was a little kid. Recently, I got Computron (Takara), Metroplex, Devastator, Streak (Takara MP), and none of them can match this great, masterfully created robot. I love my metroplex, but this piece is simply perfect. I was not even a huge fan of Ultra Magnus myself, but this toy is so amazing that deserves many hat tricks.This piece is the same size as Computron, which means it is big and probably disproportionally big (given the size of the other robots). However, you cannot expect a robot that transforms into a car-carrying truck to be any smaller than this. At least, not without sacrificing many of the great features it has. To me, the size is perfect. The toy is perfect. Yes, it is plastic, but it is high quality plastic. It is so solid that you don't miss the die-cast. You just need to hold it in you hands to fall in love with it. And the transformation! OMG the transformation! Simply orgasmic.I paid $166 for this beauty and I don't regret any penny.

First off, I love this figure. The proportions, colors, weight, and transformation is spot on! Magnus is beefy! With his weight distributed well, Magnus stands and poses easily unlike some other masterpiece figures. I give the design a 10.With that said, my figure has one minor flaw. The American driver-side missile array has an assembly issue. See attached images. The back of the array has a cover that is glued on. Unfortunately, it's not flush which causes the assembly to sit crooked in front-facing position.

Best TF masterpiece out there. If you are a fan of the original TF cartoon , then this MP-22 is for you. It looks exactly like the cartoon show. It has great transformation and accessories included. Ultra Magnus is huge too. He's very strong looking and it is great. He compliments the other TF masterpieces so well. He can be a great figure as a stand alone too. Anyone with a brain should buy this guy. This is my absolute MP up to date!
