Great brackets - sturdy and lovely industrial feel that matches other existing furniture fixtures in my home.Would definitely buy again

Opening the box, I was instantly pleased with these sturdy, smooth brackets in my favourite "industrial" matt black-coated style. I am adding these to quite a collection of similar black items. Some reviewers seem to feel ashamed to have this kind of minimalist accessories in their houses, but I much prefer them to anything more "bling" and I love the way they have become a unifying theme throughout, from bathroom to kitchen, scullery, cellar stairs, hallway etc.No question that these could support more or less any weight. However, reading reviews posted by people much more up in DIY than me, I see that a recurring complaint or warning is what many reviewers consider a design fault. The screw holes where the brackets will fix to the wall are so close together, there is a risk that the holes for the rawlplugs supplied will cause concrete or plasterboard to crumble away. I am therefore considering instead using wood screws to fix my brackets to fence posts in my garden. A shelf fixed to a stretch of fence by my front door, supporting pots of trailing plants, is an attractive idea.I am glad I ordered the 15cm brackets, rather than any longer and necessarily heavier. The current price of £16.99 for 4 x15cm brackets seems to compare quite well to that of brackets available from other sellers, particularly as this seller, Weldun, throws in a spirit level and printed instructions. (The latter being a precious rarity these days!)

....and yes I mean heavy ! out of curiosity I weighed one and it came in at 200mg, enough metal to tow a car with.Of course these Brackets would support an enormous weight but would you really want to in such a way ? They fix to a wall by three anchor points and I can't help but wonder if having three fixing points so close together is an ideal configuration. As almost all the forces are on the top two screws and the lower one adds very little it only serves to fill a space.Putting the laws of Physics aside I'll certainly be using mine, perhaps for a Bedroom Clock to sit on or a small ornament. Because of the thickness of the metal they're made of I'm sure they could support anything but would need very deep fixings to do so.A plus point is they come with five bags of fixings... screws, wallplugs etc. there's even a very useful Sprit Level to ensure those shelves are straight, nice touch.Ok then for heavyweight stuff using long screws or bolts, but for lightweight use I'd go for lightweight brackets.

These are seriously chunky and nicely finished brackets, but you will need to know what you're doing to get them fitted safely - the screw holes for the wall attachment are very close together and it is a challenge to get a stable fix in to brick with the required accuracy without VERY good drill bits and technique. Remember that the brackets themselves are really heavy, so factor in the brackets plus the shelf plus whatever you're putting on the shelf and you'll want to get this right. Personally I'd say they're best attached to wood.The fixtures you get are actually rather good quality and should do the job quite nicely. Provided you know what you're about, these are good quality, well built and nicely finished and discrete brackets.
