Product Description A Tindog Film, produced and directed by Nick Hall, this is the story of Joe Strummer’s self-imposed exile in Granada in 1985/86. Whilst in Spain and needing wheels, tracking down a Barreiros, essentially a European edition of the Dodge-Dart, became a mission. After returning to the UK for the birth of his daughter, Joe couldn’t remember where in Madrid he had left his beloved car. This documentary is partly the story of the search for the car and partly the story of Joe’s own search for meaning and redemption in those wilderness years. A box set with bonus limited edition cassette featuring a 15 minute Spanish radio interview, postcards, Strummer Dollar bill. "Seemingly a minor episode at the time, Joe's Spanish escapade takes on new significance in Nick Hall's captivating film... The seeds of Strummer's later life reinvention were sewn here and this lovely account adds genuinely new insights to his massive archive, bolstered by memorabilia, including radio interview cassette and booklet... Be very wary......this ISNT what you might hope for!
Joe Strummer to myself and many others is a God, he can do no wrong, even if some of his post-Clash work was ropey.I still embrace anything associated to the great man, so when I first heard about this last February, I was genuinely excited and ordered the DVD, hoping for new footage or interviews.I was updated many times with excuses why the release was put back, but it FINALLY came.........and what a mixed bag it is!Great packaging (I got the deluxe version) but apart from Strummers voice and some grainy stock footage.........very little else.A nice idea, but executed poorly. The bonus section IS value for money, but overall, if you are a Joe Strummer fan like me, is that you will watch it once......and file it away.A lost opportunity for a fascinating subject.

Skip the film - go to the bonus interviews.
The story of Joe Strummer's time in Spain is fascinating - particularly his collaboration with the band 091. The search for the Dodge Dart is something of a red herring. The real gem in this DVD are the interviews with Pete Howard and Nick Sheppard giving a great insight into the final days of the Clash.
