Did what it's supposed to do
I used this for my in/out boat engine. As everyone's said, the leads are way too short. I just used jumper cables to increase the length. Started the engine and warmed up the oil. I first tried using one of the supplied hoses down the dipstick pipe. That didn't work too well...got maybe a quart out. Then I went to a large box supply store and bought some tubing and a female hose adapter. Pushed the new tubing onto the pump and the hose adapter, then screwed it onto the dipstick pipe. Worked great! Got all the oil out in just a couple minutes. Sure beats those pumps you use with a drill.

Pumps Fine When Primed
This product is a pump with battery clips and plastic and copper tubes. There are a lot of reviewers who state the pump doesn’t work during the second time using it and they threw it away. This is due to user error. The key to using this pump is to understand it is NOT self-priming. The pump comes primed (with water in its housing) so it works the first time. After use, the water eventually drains or evaporates and the pump housing is dry and the pump will not function unless it is re-primed.Re-priming the pump is a bit of a bear. The intake line must be manually filled with water, attached to the pump without the water coming out, and then held above the pump so gravity will bring water to the pump until the pump housing fills with water. An elevated bucket filled with water is helpful to put the intake tube in. You will need to briefly run the pump to blow the air out of the housing to allow the water in. Once primed, the next challenge is to put the intake tube in whatever fluid you wish to pump without getting air bubbles in the tube.Hindsight being 20-20, I should have ordered a self-priming pump. But if you haven’t thrown yours out after reading other reviews, at least you now know how to make your pump function. ‘Hope this review is helpful.

Slow - waist of time and money!!!
Didn’t work at first then after blowing in the ports it did start after 20mins - 3hrs to pull 10qts. Buy a better pump!!!!! Used one time on a boat that’s already a gravity feed line. If I didn’t wait so long to use it I’d return it!!!!

Transmission fluid changer
Since today's automatic trans don't have drain plugs, every other oil change, I pump out four quarts of trans fluid with this pump and replace with four quarts new. Don't believe those people that may say never change transmission fluid as with the extreme heat created, even the best fluid can lose it's lubricity. You will have to buy a length of tubing to go down into the trans and another into the four quart catch bottle. It's cheap insurance for long transmission life. Also, The pump works well when changing rear end fluid every 100,000 miles with new fluid plus an added small bottle of conditioner. A little servicing goes a long way to avoid costly repairs.

Slow and shoddy wiring but it works
I got this to do a Porsche Boxster differential service without having to take the cover off and luckily was able to suck out all the fluid then fill it fresh. This also came in handy doing the transfer case fluid on my 2011 BMW X3.The two wires with the alligator clips are very poor quality and extremely soft, and the shielding on the alligator clips is loose as well. The soldering for one wire was so bad that I could shut the pump on and off just by bending the wire which was kinda nice but now how it's supposed to work. Needless to say, I ended up taking the cover off, rewiring everything and putting good butt connectors on the wiring to plug directly into the motor and the pump works fine, slow, but fine. The pump is good for touch to reach lower volume fluid changes but if you're doing more that 2 quarts you'll be there all day it feels!

test before actual use
I was surprised at just how small it was, I really thought it would be bigger. Not a complaint by any means, I am quite happy that it is as small as it is. DO test it with a battery first as mine had water or some liquid in it, possibly for seal preservation? Either way once I cleared out all the liquid from shipping I then put it to work with atf +4 and filled up my transfer case. So much nicer than having to use an old hand pump to do so. The price was right, function is great, Happy camper I am.

Very poor suction oh, and very cheaply made
I tried using this pump to pull the oil out of my boat engines and gave up on it because of suction was so poor. It's definitely not something that's good to purchase. I'm very sorry I wasted my money on it
