Does this board come ready out of the box for 13th gen cpu's or does it require a bios update like the msi z790p?

I needed no update for the i5 13600K I installed.

Why does a newer and more expensive motherboard only support ddr4 memory, when the z690 supports ddr5??

Cause they can. This motherboard also comes in a DDR5 version for $10 more.
