Great value for years of reliable tuning and metronome. Pro teacher & musician review.
Korg improved their tuner-metronome product significantly with the TM-70. I already own a few of their products, and as a professional musician and teacher they’re indispensable to me. They offer STURDY, RELIABLE and ACCURATE tuners, or tuner/metronomes, which are better than the competing products. Definitely worth the purchase for students and professionals, and they are standard equipment for portable instrument tuning among professional musicians. DETAILS: 1. The metronome is much louder than previous models, in a totally good way. It has a relatively pleasant wood-block sound that can be heard over any instrument. Much better than beeps, voice counting, chimes, or other sounds. It’s just what I want and recommend to other acoustic musicians. Someone complained that the choice for tempo numbers don’t go step-by-step, but actually the good side of that is it takes less time to change tempo numbers in the metronome. You can either push the button once for one change, or hold it down for a large change of tempo, and it moves fast. Korg tuners tempo numbers are standardized to other metronomes as well, so they are the tempos you usually see listed by composers in pieces of music. 2. The tuner has been accurate and has just the right balance between sensitivity and stability of read-out. Some other tuners are TOO sensitive, meaning the read out jumps around and is too influenced by unimportant, slight changes in the acoustic input from the musician’s instrument. Other tuners are too stable, and don’t catch enough of the important variances or irregularities in the acoustic input. You can be out of tune, yet the tuner says you’re in tune, for example,e. How frustrating! Some tuners can’t handle the piccolo’s extreme high range, but the Korg tuners do just fine with the flute and piccolo high ranges. Korg engineers know what they’re doing in finding the best balance between those factors, and they’ve been the leading brand in portable tuners for decades because of it. 3. Battery life: This can be important for both traveling professionals and in particular, college students, who might have trouble with having to frequently replace batteries. My college teaching experience has been that college musicians stop using their tuners most often because of battery failure. For several years, I switched to the tuner only model of Korg because it has roughly twice the battery life compared to the tuner/metronome combo. It’s frustrating being on the road and caught with a dying battery, plus the metronome was way too soft, so I carried a separate metronome with my tuner only Korg. This new model battery usage seems to last longer, so far, although it’s possible Korg made a trade-off in the not overly bright light-up screen read-off. But that’s fine with me. 4. Input and output options, with the clip-on input package. When I’m warming up on stage before rehearsal or the concert, along with everyone else, I increasingly use the clip on tuner cable that allows the Korg to show only my tuning, ignoring the other sounds around me. No tuner I know of can achieve that unless it’s got a clip-on attachment, and the Korg clips onto a flute without disrupting playing. The read out is onscreen of the tuner, which is crucial for flutists, because we can’t see read-outs on the clip itself. The flute and clip is held off to the side, out of view, so we need a read-out separate from the clip. 5. STURDINESS: I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped, or had knocked off my stand, my Korg tuners, and they still work as well as ever for many years. These are amazingly sturdy. I think that’s one of the big differences between Korg tuners and cheap competitors, and one of the reasons I don’t like to tune with my phone. When I practice, my Korg tuner is always on the stand, and I often leave it on for most of the practice session. I carry it everywhere, in all sorts of venues, and it always works. My phone battery might run low, I always turn my phone off in rehearsals and concerts, and I certainly don’t want to drop my phone off the stand as often as I drop my Korg. 6. This model of Korg seems to be less likely to be turned on accidentally in my gear bag, because of the placement of buttons. 7. I see students and a few pros tune with their phones. Here’s why I don’t: the phone apps were not necessarily engineered with the specific expertise required for a good tuner. Some phone apps are laughably inadequate. I see students unable to use their tuner and metronome apps because they have to save the phone battery. Phones can accidentally make unwanted interruptions in lessons, rehearsals and concerts. The more phones are out and around, the more likely a student will forget to turn it off. Kory tuners are pretty much standard among musicians, and they last longer than phones and phone apps. They are THE standard piece of portable, affordable tuning equipment for musicians. 8. I like the white exterior; it is easier to see inside my gear bag and has a classy look to it. I have no problem with the control buttons, they’re pretty intuitive and clear. 9. Korg shows where to tune your thirds and fifths on screen. Fine tuning of chords requires the third or fifth of a chord to be played slightly flat or sharp, and Korg tuners are one of the few tuners that show you how to tune those notes. 10. The read out isn’t as colorful and bright as competing products. You push a button once and off to have the screen light up brighter. But your battery life is hugely longer, and the screen is lit up enough. On stage you don’t necessarily want bright colors, but you do need battery life. SUMMARY: I feel strongly that Korg tuners, and Korg tuner/metronome combos, are the best affordable options, providing better value over the course of years of heavy or light usage than competing products. Korg portable tuners are the STANDARD, most used tuners/metronomes among knowledgeable and professional musicians. Using a tuner during practice improves your listening skills, and being able to use the metronome and tuner simultaneously is a valuable. The metronome has a nice, loud woodblock sound, and the new volume is just right. The option to have a clip-on input cord is very useful in ensembles. I’m in no way connected to the Korg company, but I like to educate folks and save them money over the long run by writing an experienced teacher’s and musician’s review of a favorite and well-made product. Apps come and go, cheap products run down or break, but Korgs keep working reliably for years.

Amazing product
This musical tuner is an absolute gem for any musician. Ever since I started using it, it’s saved me more times than I can count. The accuracy is impressive (even with not traditional instruments) and the response is nearly instantaneous, making it perfect whether you’re tuning on stage or in the studio. I really appreciate how easy it is to use—the interface is super intuitive, and its compact design lets you take it anywhere without any hassle. Plus, it tunes every instrument flawlessly, keeping everything perfectly in sync. Overall, if you’re looking for a tuner that’s reliable, fast, and incredibly practical, this is the one. It’s a must-have for anyone who wants to always sound their best!

Very nice unit - BPM *can* be adjusted in singles
I saw another review claim that the BPM increments are only in 6, 4, and 2, and this is actually a setting. The default setting is Pendulum Step, where it moves in increments. However, if you hold down the BPM up and down buttons at the same time for about a second, it switches to Full Step mode and you can adjust the BPM in single beats. The unit is very versatile, it's supremely portable, and it looks great. It's probably the most visually attractive metronome on the market right now. For these reasons, I'd say it's easily worth the asking price.

Good product
Bought this to try to help me tune my piano (I don't actually think it is really meant for a piano). This tuner worked very well for the center 3 octaves and OK for about a half octave past them going both up and down. Seemed to always get the right signal and tone. It did started scrambling signals and having a hard time figuring out the tone on the highest octaves and the lowest octaves, so I had to go more by ear on those, but I sort of figured it might have trouble on those, and those notes don't get played very often anyway. All in all, I am happy with my purchase.

BPMs are increments of 6 only
It works great and everything it says it can do is true. I’m returning mine though because the tempos on there are FIXED. They skip by 6 BPMs so 100, 106, 112 etc. I found a way to make it skip by 2 and 4 BUT it would restart all the way back at 30 BPMs and would go back to skipping by 6 I couldn’t figure it out. Too frustrating for $55 I’ll just use my phone. Some of the songs I need to practice were 113, 170, 188 and I can’t use this metronome for those. If you’re fine with it skipping by 6 or find a way to customize the tempo settings this could be great for you. I did not end up using the clip on mic for tuning but the device itself for tuning was really sensitive in a good way.

Perfect Tuner
I've only had this for a couple of days, but I love it. I've had a Shark tuner in the past, which went through batteries like crazy and eventually fell apart with the rubber case becoming sticky. I could never get my guitar properly in tune with the Shark, those indicator lights just never seemed to get it right. The Korg uses 2 AAA batteries (not supplied), but I always have those around, and I like the 'needle' indicator, which seems properly damped so you can creep up on the pitch easily. I paid extra to get the clip-on mic so this is twice the price of a Shark, but this has the feel of a professional piece of equipment that I'm hoping will easily outlast 2 Sharks and work better too. Plus, you get the metronome and other bells and whistles. I recommend this every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Perfect tuner. I used mobile apps before, but the delay in tuner's reaction was too long. This tuner reacts instantly and the accuracy is on top. Even when playing fast melodies, it tells you almost every note played. Great price - better than paying for a "professional" app from PlayMarket. The only disadvantage for me is a lack of a screw hole to mount the tuner on a tripod or a clip to attach it to a stand.

Ottimo, prende facilmente i suoni dell'intera estensione dell'arpa.
