Smooth Over Frizz-Fighting Treatment Mask

Not sure about the frizz control but it does make my hair feel much softer in the shower and when drying it. The scent is nice and a girly clean. I have purchased this product more than once but try to only use it when I do a blow out due to the cost of the product.

I’ve never been more pleased with a hair product. This is the best hair treatment I have ever tried. It works incredibly well. I’m surprised it doesn’t have a higher rating so am convinced people are either using it wrong or just have the wrong hair type for it. I noticed that when I put it in my hair sparingly, it doesn’t work as well. You need to put an ample amount in your hair to get the effects. Your ends have to be drenched in the product. I have long, curly to coily hair that is usually very frizzy. I used it this morning in the shower and have no frizz at all. My hair is soft, shiny, and the product is super easy to use. It takes 60 seconds and then you rinse. It is well worth the money and I am actually about to buy another one since I am almost out. The only disappointment I had was the packaging when it was delivered. The top was a little unscrewed so it leaked a little.

Love this stuff. Put on after wash and conditioner. Really calms frizz for 3 days.

It does have a scent to it but it works so well for frizzy hair. You’ll see results instantly.

Update: my poor result initially might have been due to using Amika Smooth Over after shampooing and conditioning with volumizing products. I used regular shampoo & conditioner the 2nd time and the results were MUCH better. Still not as great as I was hoping though. Original: What an expensive disappointment. I had high hopes based on the reviews but this product actually made my frizzy flyaways worse! I usually run a quick flat iron over my hair after blow drying to tame the flyaways but with this product my hair almost seemed to resist the heat of the flat iron and still looks frizzy after spending twice as much time as normal. Also, they recommend heat styling for best results and that seems like an absolute requirement to me. The few tendrils that started to dry before I started blow drying were unbelievably frizzy. I had to rewet them before starting to style. My hair is sadly worse for having used this product today.

Use in the shower every time I wash my hair. I love the Amika products this is helping to tame my frizz along with other anti-frizz product in their line. It smells sooo good!

I have always had frizzy hair, and in the picture of me outside you can see just how frizzy my hair gets, especially when you take into consideration that the picture was taken just 30 minutes after coming from a salon. However, the second picture of me indoors is what my hair looked like 2 days after using the smooth over. I have never had my hair stay non frizzy for more than 10 minutes after I style it, but this has definitely been a game changer for me. I think the reason why it works so well is because this is one of the only products that has a high enough concentration of glycolic acid available to the average consumer as a hair product. For context, glycolic acid helps to smooth down the cuticles of the hair, which ultimately smoothes down frizz and can additionaly make each strand of hair shiny/glossy. And some salons nowadays do have treatments like amikas own pro smooth over treatment or the cezanne smoothing treatment that both use glycolic acid to smooth hair like a keratin treatment or Brazilian blowout would, and with very similar results but the only difference is that they dont last nearly as long, which can be seen as a good thing because it means its not as permanent and damaging. I myself have gotten both treatments, and while they have been amazing, they did wash out my hair after about 5 or 6 washes. Both were also pretty expensive which didn't make me want to get them again. But it wasn't until I used the amika smooth over did it seem like I got the same results of those treatments back, except this time its like a mini version you can do yourself that can last you until your next wash if you wash your hair once or twice a week. I will to say that ive tried other glycolic acid products like the entire l'oreal glycolic gloss line, especially with the 5 minute lamination which seems to be a product that mirrors amikas smooth over treatment. But even that was not as effective and lasting as the amika smooth over. The glycolic gloss line only had frizz free and glossy results for about a day, while amikas product gave me 3 days of not only frizz free results but also great protection within those 3 days. Results for me actually could last to about a full week if i was careful to not expose my hair to humidity after the third day. And I definitely think this is due to just the higher concentration of glycolic acid, as if you look at the ingredient list the glycolic acid is listed near the very end for the l'oreal glycolic gloss products, but it is the 4th ingredient for the amika smooth over. And because product manufacturers have to list ingredient orders by proportion to the product, it would mean that most of amika smooth over treatment is mainly glycolic acid. My only remarks I will say about it is that you WILL have to use heat styling to see optimal results, and since it is a high concentration of glycolic acid you should definitely be careful and avoid your scalp like the instructions say. But other than that this is a perfect product for people like me with frizzy prone hair, and in my opinion its also a perfect maintenance product if you have gotten any glycolic acid based smoothing treatment before and want to have longer lasting frizz free results after every wash.

I do not use this mask often. My hair becomes too soft and light from it. I like the smell, very nice. The price is high.

horrible my hair turned out worst

I tried this product for for 2 washings and I was disappointed, I do not have a lot of frizz, but underneath and a bit of halo. I have fine hair but a lot of it and it made by hair look limp and thin, my husband agreed with me, didn't look like the same head of hair, I will take the bit of frizz.
