I think the giftee will love it. Bright and well illustrated. Review: Meet Lots of New Animals on this Book Adventure - I bought this book for our Eric Carle collection because I love this illustrations so much. The Very Hungry Caterpillar was the first book I got my child and she fell in love with the story and the pictures so we have branched out into additional books by Eric Carle. The book has quite a bit of text on the first couple pages which is great because it isn't a super fast story like some kid's books. The rubber ducks start off in a factory being created and their journey takes them on a cargo ship and then around the world to meet different animals. The first few pages are in-depth and then on each page after the ducks fall off of the cargo ship, they meet a new animal. I like that the animals in this book aren’t the traditional animals that are in children’s stories. They meet a dolphin, octopus, other ducks, whale, flamingo, etc. We love all of the animals and getting to meet what part of the world they are from (ex. Polar Bear in the North). This story also teaches directions since the ducks go all over the world. Overall a great story and I would highly recommend for your collection!

Highly recommend for duck lovers
Money well spent. My 15 month old begs to read this every night before bed and even quotes it throughout the day. Another banger from Eric Carle.

great book for preschoolers!!!
Great book!!! My 20 month old loves ducks, I saw this book and knew I had to have it for her. She loves the story and we read it 5+ times each day(literally). Its a great story and wonderful to reinforce counting skills, she points and we count together, over and over. Other than counting, there are sequential numbers(1st, 2nd, etc), as well as direction, east west, etc. Its a great fun learning book where my kids dont even realize theyre learning...isnt it great when that happens?!? :-) My 3yr old usually gets in on the action once or twice a day and counts the ducks for her sister. She thinks shes teaching her sister, but she is learning too!!

Some changes from the paper edition
We've been waiting and waiting for this book to come out in a boardbook edition. It is a favorite of my children, but one is very young, and has accidentally ripped some pages in other books. My first complaint is that the type seems kind of small, relative to other boardbooks by Mr. Carle and compared to the original version. However, my biggest disappointment came with the surprise at the end. I won't spoil it for everyone, but the format is "different" than in the original. It is cuter, and likely longer lasting, but it is a little more difficult to get it to work than the simpler mechanism in the paper book. I'd *strongly* suggest that you look at one of these in person before purchasing it ... I'm quite disappointed, but we have it now and the kids certainly love it!

Kiddo loves it
My ~2.25yo kiddo adores this book! It gives good opportunities to talk about objects, manufacturing, people working in factories, shipping, and assorted animals. My kid is obsessed with green trucks because of this book, and gets really excited and creative when we go on walks and they see a green truck. They're curious if every green truck carries rubber duckies (also picked up a Green Toys Recycling Truck, which can hold small rubber duckies--kiddo LOVES filling the green truck with duckies!). Heck, this book would be worth it a thousand times over if only because a big blue whale sings to a rubber ducky, and my kiddo has learned to sing like a whale. Very excited, wigglin' their butt and making whale noises to show how excited the whale is to see a rubber ducky. 10/10.
