A surprisingly simple and healthy diet
Okinawan diet is considered one of the healthiest diets in the world but not necessarily well known in the west, and this manual is a great introduction to those looking for alternatives in their dietary habits and aspiring for a healthier lifestyle. The book includes the background of the diet, the lifestyle and philosophy, and the best part of it is it includes a meal plan, making it very easy to jump-start the diet routine without arduous planning and research. The most important part of any diet, adhering to it for long term, is also covered with tips. This book is a must for those looking for an all-included easy start for the Okinawan diet.

Mostly healthy but some unhealthy yet delicious recipes
I really like how this book begins with Okinawan philosophies, explaining why Okinawans do things the way they do, such as ikigai and hara hachi bu. Both concepts are very practical, not only for dieting but also for life. The author provides a 30-day meal plan, and I tried a few of the recipes last month. For example, the miso egg drop soup is very easy to make and tastes quite good. The green tea chia pudding offers a very multi-dimensional experience, where you can taste the nuts and berries mixed with green tea. Each ingredient has a distinct flavor, but when combined, they come together in a harmonious orchestra for some reason.A few dishes in this diet plan that I'm not planning to cook are fried chicken karaage and tempura. I personally don't like fried dishes, and overheated oil during frying is not healthy anyway. Sure, both dishes probably taste great, but I'll pass on them. One suggestion: there are many dishes in the book, but they aren't listed in the table of contents, making it hard to find the dish I like later on. I have to flip through the book to find it again. If the author could list all the dishes in the table of contents, it would be much more convenient for readers.
