It does the job well, just take it slow
Helping a neighbor kid clean up his 40 year old Honda XL250R engine, old gasket material had been seemingly melded to the engine housing. Standard removal techniques weren't working, a flat screw driver was dangerous. This device is sharp, small enough, but simple enough to get the job done. It still took over an hour, but afterwards, the old material was gone and the surface was clean. Well worth it.

A whole new approach to scraping
I've fought with paint scrapers, razor blades and mild steel scrapers to clean tough old dried-on gaskets off various sorts of metal. All were labor intensive and some risked damage to the surface. These things just work! You'll wonder why you waited so long to get a set.

Sweet Tools - Don't Go Cheap - You Will Like These
I was trying to clean the thermostat and water pump mating surfaces from an older 1991 Jeep Wrangler. Needless to say, the gasket and antifreeze deposits were like built on metal and very difficult to scrape off. I used chemical gasket removers, acetone, wire brush and 3M green scrubber. I started to use a rotary tool, but stopped quickly as it can quickly remove metal and damage your surface. I decided to invest is these tools and they are perfect. You need both sizes to work different areas to minimize accidental damage because of bad angles or space constraints. These tools will scrape away those hard deposits, gaskets, etc leaving a nice smooth and flat surface. Take your time and don't rush and you will have a great surface to work with. I liked the handles quite a bit. Thick enough to fit comfortably in your hands. The product needs a case. There are covers for the blades, but no one would complain to have case. I bought a cheap case from Harbor Freight. The case had two permanent plastic partitions that I had to cut away using a dremel wheel. But the case fit perfectly.

When a blade doesn't get the job done, this does.
This tool removes old gaskets like butter. You don't have to dig hard at all and it just scrapes the old stuff off.

Way cheaper than a tool truck
I bought this set because I had borrowed a scraper (identical to the larger one in this set) and a truck ate it. I think it got wedged down along the frame-rail. It was gone forever, so I had to go shamefully tell my coworker that I had lost his prized scraper. He had bought it from a Matco tool truck about two months before and it was very popular for stripping paint off some of the heavy equipment we have to work with and fix up.I found this set of two for much less than my coworker had paid for a single one and I jumped at it. I wanted to replace his tool as soon as I could. I just hoped the quality would be up to snuff. A miracle happenned and when I pulled the scraper eating truck out into the parking lot later that week, the scraped came flying out. I was able to happily return the tool to my coworker the day before the new set arrived in the mail. Since we now had both of them, we have been comparing quality of the tools. The only difference between his Matco branded one and the larger one in this set is the actual word "Matco" stamped on the side. I literally think they are from the same factory. They are identical. The one from this set has worked just as well and been able to stand up to even more punishment. And this one comes with the smaller scraper for those hard to reach areas. The smaller one is also very high quality and durable.Wrap-up: Two scrapers that are just as durable as a nice name brand, but for way way less money. I have literally recommended these to all my coworkers who wanted the Matco version but thought it was way too expensive.

Take care of it and it will work great
The edge is sharp, but brittle. Treat it well and it stays straight and is incredibly sharp. Works great on aluminum and cleans up a surface quicker than any other method I've found!

Great for Old Motorcycle Gaskets
I bought this set because I had heard good things about them when it came to removing old gasket material. I was working on a 1972 Honda CB500/4, and the side cover and head gaskets were near impossible to remove. I used a combination of brake cleaner, WD-40 and aircraft remover to loosen them up, and these to scrape down the gasket until it could be scraped off completely - you're not going to just be able to scrape the old gasket away, you have to work at it a bit, but I would say that when used in conjunction with the above liquids and an X-Acto knife, these scrapers DID shorten the job. They ARE very sharp though, and you have to let the tool do the work lest you gouge the aluminum - but you'll get the hang of it. Definitely worth having in the tool chest.
