Great stuff for strong hold without greasy look
I'd been using Uppercut Deluxe matte pomade until I tried this Layrite. I want a good hold without the greasy wet look of most strong pomade. So the Uppercut matte was my favourite, however I live near the coast and it gets windy, which the matte pomade just moved and volumised in the wind so I looked like I'd been dragged through a bush! Enter Layrite Strong. Fabulous hold, great for styling and still aleasy to comb without knotting, is slightly shinier than the matte pomade but even using a fair bit, it doesn't look greasy. Now my hair stays in place in the wind! 😁 Smells lovely too without being too pungent. Great stuff. New favourite.

Easy to use and does the job
Soft, easy to rub between hands before running through hair with fingers. Scent is very nice and subtle, will buy again when this tub is finished.

Good stuff
The amount of hair gels, creams and pomade I've been through has been a headache, not to mention heavy on the pocket just to try. However this is the one for me. If you're looking for a pomade that is easy to apply, not ultra sticky or ultra greasy this could be for you. I use it for slick back style. Mix a bit in palms, add to hair first application. Mix a little bit more add a tiny tiny bit of water to loosen (which I find seems to activate it more) Then comb with fingers or comb. Lasts for the day with good application and washes out easily with no residue.

Perfect for short think hair
I have been a user of the red DAX wax for many many years and have tried so many different hair products and have always gone back to DAX because it seems to be the best hold for my hair. But, I live in Dubai and during the summer months temperatures can reach 50c so DAX being a wax gets very soft in the heat. I tried using gels but because my hair has a slight curl to it the gel doesn't pull and hold my hair straight like DAX does. Another problem with DAX, being petroleum based they have recently changed the smell of it so its starting to smell like engine oil :-( So, I have hunted high and low for a water based product that stays firm in the heat, washes out easily and also one that smells great..... FINALLY... for me.. a product that does what it says on the tin!!!! This really is like putting wax in your hair, with the same hold as gel.... and washes out easily. My only tip is to make sure your hair is almost dry and it works better then (probably not getting watered down). I towel dry my hair and that seems to be enough. Will for sure be stocking up with this product!! FANTASTIC !!!

Best hair product
I have thick straight hair which is usually around medium length and I find this product works very well in taming my hair and allowing me to style into a sort of slick back/parted style. I also like the fact that you can rinse the majority of this out without shampoo so you can reapply a few times without having to wash your hair completely. For best results I speread a small amount evenly through wet hair and blow dry while combing it to the desired style, then add more product on top of the dry hair to hold in place.

Highly Recommended
I have started to grow my hair during lockdown to try and achieve a nice man bun but as we all know we need to go through the ugly stage. I cut my hair in a way that I have an undercut comb over while growing my hair and needed something to hold my hair in place. I tried many regular products from supermarkets and they were bad. Tried John Frieda products and they were okay but still struggled with my hair. However, this product is superb. Holds my hair well and gives it a nice shine. The smell is also weird but pleasant? Something I haven't smelt before but smells so so nice. Will be stocking up on this product, highly recommend.

What on earth happened to it?
Came here to check if I had a faulty batch, but it seems not. Been getting this for a few years now and it was excellent. Held your hair really well, washed out easily and was more wax than gel. But the latest one I got is awful. The new version is like a very cheap wet look gell from the 1990s. It does not hold your hair and feels very greasy. I've checked, and the ingredients are the same between the old one and my latest tub. But the first ingredient is water. And it feels like they have just increased the amount of that. Shame as it was excellent, now at that price, just avoid it.

A Crown of Confidence: The Layrite Superhold Pomade and the Art of the Perfect Hold There are few things in this world more defining than a man’s hair. It is not merely a collection of strands upon the scalp, nor is it some passive ornament, unworthy of consideration. No, a man’s hair is his crown, his standard upon the battlefield of life, the first thing the world sees and the last thing it forgets. And yet, for centuries, mankind has waged a quiet war against the forces of nature, against gravity, against unruly strands and stubborn cowlicks that refuse to bow to our will. It was in this great and noble struggle that I found my answer—not in fate, nor in compromise, but in Layrite Superhold Pomade. What follows is not a mere review. It is a testimony. The Arrival: A Promise in a Tin The package arrived with the quiet dignity of something that knows its own worth. There was no excess, no gaudy display of bravado—only a sturdy tin, simple and sure, bearing the Layrite name in gold and ivory, a mark of craftsmanship, a whisper of promises yet to be fulfilled. I unscrewed the lid with the care of a man handling a relic of great importance, and there it was: the pomade itself, a substance at once solid and pliable, thick with purpose, rich with possibility. Its scent rose to meet me—clean, confident, a hint of barbershops lost to time, where chairs reclined with a whisper and straight razors moved with the assurance of artists. I had used other pomades before, had dabbled in waxes and gels, had suffered through products that promised mastery but delivered only flaking, stiff failure. But this—this was different. The Application: A Ritual of Transformation I scooped a modest amount onto my fingertips, feeling its texture, not greasy, not watery, but firm—like conviction, like purpose, like something that meant to last. With a touch of water, it yielded, spreading into a fine elixir of control, a potion of dominion over the unruliest of strands. And then, the moment of truth. I ran it through my hair, and what happened next can only be described as alchemy. The transformation was immediate, undeniable—every strand obeyed, every lock fell into perfect formation, as if bowing to the will of something greater than itself. My hair did not become stiff, did not calcify into an unnatural shell, but instead found its truest self—structured yet natural, held yet free, sculpted but never shackled. I stood before the mirror, a man renewed, and whispered: This… this is power. The Superhold: An Unshakable Resolve Layrite does not deal in falsehoods. When it declares Superhold, it does so not as marketing, but as an oath, a covenant of unyielding fortitude. The day stretched before me, filled with its usual tribulations—wind, heat, the ceaseless movement of hours upon hours—but my hair, my crown, did not falter. Through morning coffee and midday trials, through long commutes and hurried decisions, the hold remained, unbroken, unbothered by time or trouble. And yet, when the day was done, when at last I stood before the mirror once more, it yielded to water with the same grace with which it had held firm, rinsing away clean, leaving no residue, no clinging regret—only the quiet satisfaction of a product that knows its job is done. The Legacy: A Man and His Pomade There are products one uses and forgets, and then there are products that become part of who you are. Layrite Superhold is the latter. It is not merely a tool; it is an ally, a trusted companion in the daily march of existence. It does not bend to fleeting trends or momentary whims, for it is crafted in the spirit of the old ways, of barbers who understood that a man’s hair is his armor, and that his armor must not fail him. It is for those who demand excellence, for those who know that the world is watching and that they must meet its gaze with nothing less than perfection. The Verdict: A Staple of Greatness I do not merely recommend Layrite Superhold Pomade. I urge it. I stand upon the tallest rooftops, atop the highest hills, and proclaim its virtues to any who will listen. Five stars is too few for something so flawlessly executed. If the heavens allowed it, I would give it five hundred. If you are a man who demands control, who understands that confidence begins in the way you carry yourself, and that the way you carry yourself begins in the way you style your hair, then look no further. For here, in this humble tin, lies more than pomade. Here lies the very essence of style, of heritage, of hold that does not waver, of legacy that does not fade.

I recently discovered the Layrite hair pomade and I must say it is one of the best hair styling products I have ever used! My barber initially introduced me to this product and I have been using it ever since. The texture of the Layrite hair pomade is smooth and easy to apply. It goes on effortlessly and doesn't leave any greasy or sticky residue. In fact, it is water soluble, which makes it extremely easy to wash out of my hair. This is a huge plus as I have used other products in the past that have left my hair feeling heavy and oily. The scent of the Layrite hair pomade is also fantastic. It has a clean, refreshing smell that isn't overpowering or too strong. Overall, I highly recommend the Layrite hair pomade to anyone looking for a high-quality hair styling product that is easy to use and smells great. Whether you're a professional stylist or just looking for something to use at home, this product is definitely worth trying out. It has quickly become a staple in my hair care routine and I know it will be for many others as well!
