Performs well.
I had purchased a replacement irrigation timer. Found out it didn’t have a built-in pressure reducer like my old one. This device did the trick. Works great.

Understand What You're Buying
An inexpensive pressure reducer for drip piping. I would’ve actually preferred a model with pipe thread rather than hose thread, but with a few fittings, I worked it into my system. I have very high pressure in my sprinkler system (upwards of 80psi), so for the drip zones, I wanted something to step the pressure down immediately prior to the drip piping. These work perfectly. I only give the 4stars because it is plastic and I question the durability…. But for $5/each… who cares. It was difficult to tell if this product was going to work for my application because there seemed to be so many reviews of people who appear to be using this product for the wrong application. Therefore, I wanted to attempt to assist future buyers. A few notes: 1) This product is not meant to be left under a constant pressure load. Meaning, it should be installed on a side of your system where it only sees pressure when you’re actively watering. I suspect most of the failures noted in reviews are people who left it under pressure 24/7. 2) This is the big one: Many reviewers claim that the product doesn’t work because they hooked up a pressure gauge and saw now drop. Their observation is correct, but that doesn’t mean the product doesn’t work. Here is why: This product will not reduce pressure in a static system; it is a dynamic pressure reducer. Meaning, it uses hydraulic friction to reduce pressure. No water movement (static system) = no friction = no pressure reduction. This also means amount of pressure reduction seen will vary with the amount of flow being drawn. Which leads into the next note: 3) The manufacturer isn’t 100% truthful when they say that the product will reduce your pressure to 25psi. The unit is designed to reduce the pressure to that level under a very specific condition (a combination of input pressure and flow rate). However, they do not state what that optimum condition is. The only thing stated is a maximum flow rate of 20 gpm. All I can offer in this department is my observation that this product is taking a 80 psi input with a flow rate of ~1gpm (~100ft of drip piping with 0.9gph emitters spaced @ 18” on center), and there is no adverse effect to the drip piping. If it can work under those conditions, I think it’ll work for just about anything.

Cheap & easy, necessary if you have even medium pressure for drip
If you have drip irrigation, understand that many emitters don't work properly above 30psi. Many well pressure switches are set for 30/50 or higher, which means that at the same elevation as the switch your water system will be 50psi or higher part of the time. If you have a 50/70 system, it could be up to 70; city water supplies are typically 45-80 psi so consider that. What can happen if your drip is given too high of pressure? Emitters will likely dump lots more water than you expect. 1/4" line and barbed fittings may pop off, resulting in big leaks, and even 1/2" lines may rupture. Depending on your irrigation setup, you need to lower your water pressure. If you have access to your piping before many valves, you can use something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1VJKZRP. If you don't, then you can use this item I'm reviewing here, but realize: IT GOES ON AFTER TIMER VALVES. This is because it's not built to have pressure on it 24/7. Just unscrew your hose, put this regulator on the valve/hose bib, and put the hose back on, and your water pressure will be lowered to a reasonable level for drip. Price: A+. Literally half the price of most local places; HD has a similar price to this but they're an hour away from me and amz gets it here tomorrow...

Perfect for Drip System
This pressure regulator works great for my drip irrigation system. No more leaks at the various fittings on the 1/4" tubing due to the high system pressure. This regulator is not designed to be under pressure all the time so you will have to place it after your timer or in-line shut off. If you leave it under pressure it will leak at the weep hole. This is not a design fault or a problem with the regulator.

Worked perfectly

I expected the outlet to be compatible with Hozelock and Gardinia watering systems unfortunately the thread size is wrong. No problem, I thought, as it can be returned for a refund. Wrong as it came from Europe no return available. So beware before you order.

Does what it is supposed to. Reduce downflow hose pressure to 25 psi. Item is plastic so easy to break and don’t leave with water in if cold temperatures expected!
