Quality Bay leaves
Being such a large container, and given the price, I thought these leaves would be old and weak flavored. I was wrong. They are very fresh with great flavor. In recipes I would normally use two leaves, I only use one now. If I use two, their flavor is overpowering. So, be careful. Better to start out with half the amount and add more if you need too. I originally bought these to put in sashes to place in the pantry. We had Mill bugs. I filled 10 of the bags with these leaves and squirted some eucalyptus oil on them. Within hours, the bugs were crawling out from under the door. I've seen people say in their reviews that these are not "premium" bay leaves. I'm no chef, but I can tell you they are very strong, have great flavor, and halfway through the jug, I've only found one leaf that had a spot of something on it. I highly recommend them.

beautiful aroma to the air
This is really a lot of bay leaves! After giving my mother quite a large jar of them, and my daughter a quart jar of them, there is still more than half the jar left. I have been putting several leaves in a large kettle of water on the stove these dry, dry wintery days, and simmering them, adding water whenever they seem to be getting dry. Adds such a clean, beautiful aroma to the air! Oh, and they are also very good for food.(especially soups and meat)

Yeah! No flour moths!
In the south we have flour moths and once they attack your kitchen, you are under siege! I saw on the Australian cleaning show I watch on hulu that bay leaves placed every few feet or so on the shelves will keep moths away, I immediately search and found this large container and it is packed to the rafters! LOL I've seen a few moths earlier this month before I received the bay leaves and none since I spread it around! I have them everywhere! I baked bread and make pizza, so there is often a little flour somewhere. I even keep a few leaves in my 25 pound container of flour. In the flour sprinkler, etc! These smell so fresh and of course they go into stews and soups!

This product arrived very quickly and the price was good. However
This product arrived very quickly and the price was good. However, I was disappointed in the product. Because of cramming so many of the dried leaves into the container, many of the leaves were broken into tiny pieces. Fortunately, since I was NOT using this for cooking but for bug prevention, the product would work.

If you need Bay Leaves...
This is the answer short of having your own tree. I used to shop at Cosco and buy products like this in bulk at reasonable prices. Now I live in the country and must rely on local groceriy stores where the price of any herb or spice is insane. If I broke this out to grocery-size packaging this 1 lb container would cost over two hundred dollars...and that's not chump change. And, yes, they are fresh and aromatic.

Lifetime supply of Bay Leaves fresh and fragrant
This is likely a lifetime supply of Bay Leaves. They are fresh and fragrant and anyone who is tired to shelling out $6 for a jar with maybe 10 leaves will appreciate these. They are much more fragrant than the jarred leaves as well. Some of them should be stored in an airless bag in the freezer to help them last unless you use an huge amount of Bay Leaves. I have shared with friends as well. Nice to just have as many as I want at a reasonable cost.

You'll Use Them Eventually
A pound of bay leaves will last you a while, but make no mistake - these are good leaves, and great to have in bulk. Just be sure to store the excess someplace proper and you won't regret it. In my experience, bay leaves come in two varieties: cheap and tasteless big containers, or small, pricey, and worthwhile. These actually break the model; they're rather nice for their price and the quantity. Get them, and use them generously in your cooking; they're key to many good dishes!

Not impressed
We are not impressed by this order as their quality control is not up to our expectations. We use bay leaves a lot and have never received a package with so many broken leaves and so many leaves with holes (insect damage?). In addition to the bay leaves, there are several pine needles in the jar. The price was good for 1 pound of leaves, but not so good when so many are broken in to small pieces and unusable.
