I need to check again if there is any of the expected tallow scent in the raw material, but I made the loveliest tallow lotion recently. I was planning to make a new set of tallow balm, but the temps are warm enough already that it was pretty soft out of the container. I melted it (unnecessarily) and whipped it with some grapeseed oil and added some lavender tea tree oil (rosalina EO). It was so soft at room temp that I moved it from a salve tin to a lotion bottle and it's been amazing - smells lovely, a small dollop covers considerable ground and it helps heal work roughened hands and prevent the pickers in my family from messing with their skin. In the winter I'll probably need to move it back to a tin, but for now we have a lovely lotion. I look forward to testing the tallow for frying soon. I've hated using it in the past due to the scent / flavor of my homemade tallow.

Excellent product. Quality is outstanding. I was undecided with so many brands and options but I’m glad I chose the right brand. I’ll stick to this brand. The tub isn’t completely 100% full …probably a 90% full. BUT when you buy a product like this you need to understand that THE product IS BEEN SOLD BY WEIGHT AND NOT BY VOLUME. I”ll give 5 stars to this product, for premium quality, outstanding flavor and overall excellent product satisfaction.

Fast shipping. If you look at how the lid has a zip around it, just get it started and it will come off. The next time, the lid will come off easily. You may have to use a knife or scissors to release the tab at first. The actual lard is top quality. I have been experimenting with it to see how it can replace oil or butter.For oil, it's a good replacement for frying french fries in deep fat or for frying beef patties in a skillet. In my opinion, it's not good for pork sausage patties as the tallow lends a beef flavor to the sausage patties and the gravy you may make from the drippings. I prefer the pork taste in that instance.For butter, I don't think it's a good substitute for butter. I made biscuits with it and prefer butter for the fat that is cut into the flour.My husband like eggs fried in it. I prefer bacon grease or butter for frying eggs. It definitely has a mild beef flavor.Based on what I have learned so far, I won't be using it for cookies, cakes, pie crusts, etc. to substitute for butter in those baked goods. So, it's basically for potatoes or for frying beef patties or crumbles for a recipe.

Excellent product, excellent taste. A very pure and consistent tallow, no odd deposits or oil streaks.Odor, let’s talk about the smell. In my experience, all beef tallow has a strong smell when heated up for cooking with. My wife does not like the smell. I do like it! Think it smells great! Of all the beef tallows I have tried, this has the least beefy odor.You haven’t had a proper fried egg until you’ve fried it in this tallow, amazing!

I use this for making tallow balms. There is a little bit of a beef smell that I don’t necessarily want in the balms, so I purifying it in hot salt water before using in balms. Very good quality!

So trying to get a refund is virtually impossible for this tallow. I’ll be honest I haven’t opened the bucket and it’s completely sealed, but I immediately after removing it from the Amazon box I noticed the bucket was half empty. I wasn’t too concerned about the oversized bucket except that when I weighed it , it only weighed in at 4.4 lbs and that includes the weight of the bucket itself. I payed almost 50 bucks for what was suppose to be 5lbs of tallow. Instead I got probably about 4 lbs once removed from the hefty container it comes in. I couldn’t be more disappointed. I will not be ordering this item again. What a rip off.

My wife and I completely stopped using vegetable and peanut oil. We only cook with coconut oil and this beef tallow. We’ve been ordering this product for a while now and enjoy cooking with. Eating healthy is great!

Both containers arrived opened with one container, having a pubic hair in it the other one has specs of dirt. Pretty disappointed because overall the color is nice and texture was good but I don’t feel comfortable eating because both of the containers are open and I don’t wanna eat somebody’s ball fro. To top it all off I can’t return or get a replacement item because it says it’s unavailable for that on Amazon. What a load of crock. Pretty frustrated.
