Worked perfect for my 1998 4runner. Plug and play.

Works great easy to install plug and play. Design is different from the original the plug cable goes in the other side but you can just keep the cable in the trunk compartment. If you really wanted to run the cable through the bumper you could but you would have to either make bigger holes or cut the cables and reconnect them.

Perfect fit for my vehicle. No wire splicing required. Simply plug the harness into the vehicle wiring harness.

Worked perfectly - plug and play. Unit is designed to plug in on the passenger side of the vehicle but the factory unit is installed on the drivers side. If you install this on the passenger side just plug it in and wiring will be correct. If you decide to install where the old unit was on the drivers side you’ll need to swap the turn signal leads.

I bought this to replace my original 4Runner trailer harness which had never worked (I purchased the vehicle used). Installation was quick and easy, only requiring that I change the ground wire side from the right to the left of the vehicle. This was simple, since grounding bolts are present on both sides of the 4Runner. The product is well made, visibly better quality than my existing trailer harness. My trailer light problem is solved. Had high hopes for this unit to replace the factory Taillight Converter from Toyota. HUGE FAIL! The ground wiring is opposite of the factory and its an unnecessary step. The flat 4 wiring that goes between the Converter and the Trailer is permanently attached to the Converter and is too big to fit through the Body Channel like the Factory installed wiring. They actually tell you to just let it hang out of the tailgate and to roll it up and store it inside when not in use. Toyota was actually smart enough to make that section detachable and put a square plug on the end that connects inside, which easily passed through the body, like the original, so it can be permanently mounted. What a poor design.
