The Power of a Humble Life

This book was soooo good! It explains such a powerful message of life… to always remain humble. Throughout the book it talks about all kinds of examples and passages to help the reader understand in what ways to remain humble and how we can learn from it. This book was a great reminder, especially when living in a world where not a lot of people actually are. I’d re read this book a million times!

Amazing how the author Simmons makes us look at humility. Most of us look at humility as a weakness of some sort. It's as if Simmons turns that inside-out! What an insight he gives us! He does the same with pride -- something we all have -- something we can all recognize if shown to us the way he does. We get a taste of it as really dis--tasteful! Destructive! Self-destructive! A Poison! A real source of failure! I share a few of the quotes he uses as chapter headings or explanatory references from great thinkers. It's like he knows that he has to show us our pride for what it really is, and how and to where it leads us, before we can even look at humility and a humble life for what it is, which we may not recognize in ourselves, but others can see and be shown as powerful. The greatest example of humility he gives us is Jesus Christ. In comparison to the so called "powerful" throughout history and their achievements, which might have has some lasting effect, Jesus, the most humble person to live on this earth, accomplished more that all other people combined. The power of his life of humility cannot be erased and continues to affect the people of this earth century after century, decade after decade, year after year, day after day. I wasn't sure that the book was worthwhile, so I got a Kindle sample. Do what I did and read the sample. I think it will convince you that you want to buy the book and read the rest! I think you'll be glad that you did.

What an excellent read. Something to provoke and check the motives of the heart. Love the concerns Simmons makes into what our society celebrates today vs in past generations and what the byproduct of that is.

Good suggestions on how to "live and better understand" humility. The keys to the kingdom are found in this virtue.

This book has tremendous insight and cuts to the heart. I have at the same time enjoyed it and been convicted by it. The way the author puts things simply yet truthfully has had an effect on me personally. A great read and I continue to come back to it for more.

I loved all the reading of scriptures relating to the book. Highly recommend reading this book if pride has cankered your soul!

Great teaching on humility and the rewards it brings. I very much enjoy every book by this author.

To say this book spoke to me in an understatement. This was the exact book I didn’t know I needed to read. It has come at a very important time in my life.

It was a decent read. As the chapters were short and to the point, with some short stories to elaborate on the topic. It kept me engaged at the start and middle, but it did get a bit slow towards the end. I do have a better understanding of humility, and the importance of it. As pride can be your downfall. It's important to be thankful for everything you have.

Really enjoyable to read and a great explanation of why humility is so important. What a great book this was!
