It’s rural England in the Early 18th Century. A deformed skull is discovered – it has an intact eye and strange fur but when that skull disappears the village, especially its children, becomes afflicted by its supernatural power.Starring Linda Hayden and Patrick Wymark, this quintessential folk horror produced by legendary British film company Tigon and directed by Piers Haggard, is a heady concoction of old-style horror and sex, served up in an unnervingly modern visual presentation. It explores and seems to unpick the dawning decade’s fears about promiscuity and the generation gap, poking fun at the moral majority’s lack of tolerance toward youth culture and non-Christian belief systems.Extras Brand new 4K Remaster from the Original Negatives in 1.85:1 Aspect RatioHigh Definition (1080p) Blu-ray Presentation LPCM 2.0 English MonoOptional English SubtitlesAudio Commentary by director Piers Haggard actress Linda Hayden and writer Robert Wynne-Simmons Audio Commentary with British Film Experts Vic Pratt and William FowlerSatan’s Skin - Robert Wynne-Simmons on The Blood on Satan’s ClawThe Devil’s Business - Wendy Padbury on The Blood on Satan’s ClawFolk Horror - Kier-La Janisse on The Blood on Satan’s ClawTigon Tales of Terror featurette with Michael Armstrong, Piers Haggard, Christopher Neame, Tony Tenser and Ian OgilvyReviving Forgotten Horrors - Interview with Piers HaggardFolk Tale - An Interview with Actor Simon WilliamsFolk Art - An Interview with Set Dresser Milly Burns Folk Sound - - An Interview with Sound Recordist Tony DaweFolk Music - An Interview with Composer Marc WilkinsonFolk Dub - An Interview with Assistant Dubbing Mixer Graham V. A Classic British Horror given 5star treatment
Ignore the ridiculous 1star review which was left before this release even hit the shelves. This classic British horror movie has been given 5 star treatment here. The case contains the 4k disc of the movie with a couple of audio commentaries and also the blu ray of the film containing bags of extras. The 4K rendering of the film is excellent with great clarity and the correct amount of natural grain. It’s a slight pity it hasn’t had an Atmos or surround soundtrack overhaul but I’m not going to mark it down for that - it still looks and sounds great. It comes with a nice chunky booklet and is housed in a sumptuous and substantial colourful plastic slip cover. It’s not cheap but if you’re a fan of Blood On Satan’s Claw then this lavish 4K/blu ray set is an absolute no-brainer. Buy it. 5/5

Fancy a bit Vic?
Smokin' hot girl next door proves to be a bad influence to neighbouring kids & creepy pensioners alike with satanic worship & blatant vicar teasing. Fat judge sorts it! The end. Great stuff!!

No Slip cover or booklet?
I sent the first one back thinking the slip cover and booklet was missing. The second one has just arrived and no slip cover or booket?Maybe I was mis reading the information but I assumed these films via 88 have these?

Very enjoyable - 88films Bluray 2024
Really enjoyed the film, a wonderful visuals and audio throughout and a fascinating story. Is this the complete film though ? as there did appear to be some disjointed moments that made little sense (or characters that never reappear in the storyline). Fine cast. The box design is first rate. The documentaries were hit and miss but the Wendy Padbury one was superb.Only moan would be the dire booklet that came with it, I mean was the film Satan's Skin ? ... I know that was the earlier title but I saw that repeated throughout. The essay was odd, hardly even mentioned the film and was happy to ramble on about gangs and Clockwork Orange etc but I didn't come away with any additional knowledge of the film I had just watched. The pics were just random ones and one from one of the most dramatic (and horrible) parts of the film and there was no context for them. Also no cast listing or production staff, no notes on the scan etc or details about the extras (such as some bios of the people involved). Would have been interesting to read about the cuts made to the film, missing clips (there did seem to be a few places where it made little sense) and also why Patrick Wymark replaced Peter Cushing and why he also disappeared off to London (to do research ... ?) for a chunk of the film when half the village goes into chaos mode and has James Hayter randomly arresting people on hear-say (great performance there, I wonder how good his inn food was)Still, pleased I picked up this bluray
