Far Journeys
Excellent book, well written, gives many of what you may encounter in your astral journeys which was very interesting. This is my second purchase, as my friend wanted a copy. It gives you great ways in which to astral project and travel, great read facinating stories of many experiencers. Its the kind of book you pick up but dont want to put down once you get into it.

The missing part of the puzzle?
Of the few books I have reviewed I feel this is probably the most difficult, and yet maybe the most required in terms of explanation and relevance to what you might be looking for. Its premise is a phenomenal story of one mans journeys during his experiences of travelling out of his body, and through his own curiosity and endeavour he is taken on a series of incredible journeys through time and space. He meets with various entities from other realities, and through the action of simulation and experience they attempt to show him the purpose of life and the world upon which it depends, from its initial creation to its ultimate completion. It is both an incredible and immensely thought provoking book and will leave you with many sleepless nights trying to correlate and make sense of his story, and whatever your conclusion it is almost certain that life will not be quite the same as it was before you opened its pages.Depending on where you are in your quest and the part you are still looking for it will leave you either exhilarated or despondent, and there are certainly elements in this book that will do both. Like `Journeys out of the Body' when it was originally published, I suspect `Far Journeys' is still quite a few years ahead of its time. However, if you think you are at the point where you have read all there is in your quest to fully understand the nature of existence but feel there is still something missing then this might well be the book you are looking for. I hope it resonates and you will go on to read his follow up `Ultimate Journey', if not then I suggest you put it aside and wait. I'm sure there is something here for you, but maybe it's just not the piece of the puzzle you are looking for at this moment.

A Reliable New Age Guru
Robert A. Monroe was very much a pioneer in bringing a rational explanation of out of body experiences to the skeptical scientific community, being a scientist himself, and running a successful big business based on very firm rational, materialistic principles. It's for this reason that he found it very disorientating when he had spontaneous out of body experiences in the mid to late 1950's. Setting up a research organisation, this book is the warmer, more approachable result of his thorough investigative method, with mostly direct case histories, which I think appeal to most people much mor readily than what an external, so called objective observer of those experiences may report on, as is the tone of Journeys Out Of The Body, being his own reportage for the most part, and being in contradiction to his warmth and inspirational qualities as a speaker. Still there's something attractive about someone so conscious of needing proof, and providing it, to someone such as myself, who prefers, usually, something of an imaginative approach to hyper-reality. In other words, the weirder it sounds, the more likely it is to me. This book is that un-Blakeian middle ground of straightforward reports of un-straightforward experience. Fascinating.

Simply fascinating
I found out about Robert Monroe after some strange events and feelings I would experience whilst trying to drift off to sleep. When it comes to 'Out of body Experiences' and anything of such mystique, I found that Monroe takes to subject in a straightforward, no nonsense way. The best information on any paranormal phenomenon I've ever come across. No silly speculation, instead simple observations and stories as he could best translate.I did not know what to expect of 'Far Journeys' after reading 'Journey's out of the body'. I soon found this second book to be even more incredible. Some of the experiences described left me in wonder and amazement for days. Nothing else has occupied my mind since reading this book. Many a mystery is solved.Perhaps the best thing is that Monroe shares the tools necessary for anyone to go out and explore, as I will try to do.

A truly great book
Although this really is a great book, full of many highs and lows for the reader (including some shocking revelations about the origins of human life) do not buy it if you want to learn how to perform your OOBE's.It is not a manual, but it is a very thought provoking recollection of some of Monroe's astounding out of body journeys. This is a book for those who are open minded, big hearted and growing in spirit.Highly recommended.

If you learn French from a French book you learn French, what would you learn from a book about OoBe's??
I can understand the mix of reviews towards his books, however one must read the whole trilogy in order to understand this man's transition from 'normalness' to OoBE specialist. I'm sure many of us who have read his books have had OoBE's and Lucid Dreams & can tell the difference between these two worlds. Others will differ and call RAM a fantasists who was just writing down his dreams. Fair play right?I admit I too dismissed his first book halfway through it, but after a few months I picked it up again and well, the rest is history. If you have read the 3rd book without reading the first then I suggest you read them in the order they are, especially his second book. (Loosh!!!???)So why my transition from simple dismissal to respectful insight. Well we all experience different adventures when in this aforementioned state, if I were to write down my encounters I would have long time been sectioned. It's easy to dismiss others experiences and regard our own as the final word, RAM I respect you for being able to see past this.

Hard reading
I'm editing this review as I gave it 1 star the first time !I loved Monroe first book so my expectations were rather high for this one. It's not as easy reading as Monroe's 1st book and I almost quit reading several times on the first 80 pages. I was hating the book and I was puzzled with the reviews I saw in amazon. Good thing I jumped a few parts and then it became more pleasant.

Big Bang

This is book 3 in the series of amazing experiences in the out of body state of awareness
This is book 3 in the series of amazing experiences in the out of body state of awareness, by Robert Monroe and his team of other dimensional reality explorers... I originally purchased the series 20 years ago. I like to reread the books every few years to see if I am able to understand the material in them on a deeper level as I evolve. Somehow, during a move, I lost this middle book and was replacing it with this purchase. This series is about real life, ongoing and documented experiences, by intelligent, educated people, through both spontaneous experience and planned experiment.
