A beautiful tour of a beautiful starkly simple farm house.
I am in the process of remodeling an old farmhouse that was terribly 'modernized.' I looked to this book for an inspiration of returning it to something approaching its former style and grace. We don't have any pictures or recollections to go by, so we have to fake it. The book is beautifully done. It is limited for my purposes because the focus is on one particular farm house done in a persistently white color pallet. I really love the author's final product, but it wouldn't hold up to my messy kids, dogs, and working-farm lifestyle. If you are an arthitect or interior designer and have a library of "idea" books, then this would make an excellent addition. If you are a remodeler working on your own project, know that this book is limited.

Meh...
Nice photos and all, but if I saw one more stinkin' ironstone pitcher as a focal point, I was going to explode. It started to get under my skin. It was as though the authors were "playing house". The photos were more like staging than actual decorating and didn't seem, at least to me, to present a practical, cohesive, homey feel. For instance, a floor to ceiling, wall to wall stack of cut firewood behind a bed for "visual interest"? Have you actually ever investigated what lives in your wood pile? And you want to bring that into your house in that quantity? Weird. The numerous photos of collections of decrepit, mismatched, ancient baby shoes just creeped me out. I am always on the lookout for inspiration for my 1760 house, and have enjoyed many other lovely style books for old houses. This will be passed along to the local library.

Could be better
The style shown is great. I only wish the pages had been balanced with more full room shots. Though the photography is stunning and the taste is wonderful I am now reluctant to purchase a second book of Terry John Woods for fear it will be only details again. The book 'American Farmhouses / Country Style and Design' by Leah Rosch/ Simon & Schuster 2002 show a lot of wonderful rooms with a farmhouse approach and some relief from the mostly white-on-white rooms in this book. A blend of these two books would be the perfect book for me.

Good coffee table book. That’s about it.
Not many full on rooms. Really a few stories from the author and just photos of stuff. Glad I bought used from amazon goodwill store.

Beautiful, Informative, Entertaining, the ultimate decorating book
This book is filled with beautiful photographs of Terry John Woods' personalized styling and artistry. Each time I pick it up it takes me to a calm place where I can relax and enjoy the pros, family photos and treasures, beautiful flowers, handcrafted santas and teddy bears. Terry's groupings of similar items gave me many ideas for displaying my collections. The simple, tasteful use of linens, pottery, antiques, bottles, art, reclaimed furniture, slipcovers show anyone can create a lovely home with their personal and family treasures and items found at fleamarkets or yard sales. Terry makes it look so easy.I loved all the Christmas holiday decorating ideas and, as a gardener, I was thrilled to see all the outside living themes using flowers, furniture, pots, shrubbery and various implements. My friends are also in love with this book

Appreciating the ordinary
The careful work and fine hands of Terry, Dale and Kindra have created another beautiful book. When I see books with such spectacular pictures, I seldom take the time to read the explanations. In this case, the writing is tender and thoughtful as it invites you to the next page. The appreciation of the ordinary is clear even as the ordinary is so beautifully treated and displayed. The appreciation of the past that is expressed in the old family photos is very touching and makes me want to dig into the books and boxes in my own storage bin. Congratulations to the creators of this splendid volume.

Lovely Book!
What a lovely book! I love county decorating and using antiques in the mix in order to personalize my own home so this book is right up my alley. The photos are beautiful of Mr Woods' home. My only recommendation would be to include other peoples homes as well.
