Brewers Best Whiskey Barrel Stout Beer Ingredient Kit

My wife and I have sent these as birthday gifts to our son-in-law for years. He loves them and better, we all enjoy the end product. Of the 6 or so we've purchased, all good with full complement of necessary ingredients.

Very good brew. Did two batches, first with 6oz of bourbon, second with 8 oz. The 8oz was perfect! I boiled the wood chips per directions. Saved the water from them and added the bourbon in a sealed tupperware (for about a week.) Did this when doing the initial brew and added when I transferred to a secondary. This brew needs a long secondary for best taste. Mine was in it for a month and it's great! First batch I added water and stayed at the highest gravity to be stronger. Second added a bit more water to the lower end of the gravity range. IMO, the second batch was more enjoyable. The first batch was a bit too rich and strong (9% per OG/FG). Both were still great. Surprisingly hoppy at the end of the taste. I am not a hoppy fan, this is just right. Word of warning. Use a fermentor with a lot of head space. This yeast is a doozy and wen nuts. I blew two airlocks off and had to use a blow off jug. It was an intense few days.

This was my 6th brew and probably my favorite. I soaked the oak chips in Jack Daniel's for a week. When I transferred to secondary I racked on top of the chips. Very nice, subtle oak flavor with a nice jack scent and light taste. I also added an ounce of fuggles @60 min and the beer came out great. All my friends are loving it so I'm happy. Thanks BB

Easy to follow with expected results.

Beer came out great. I would suggest buying a mesh bag to hold the wood chips since they are really small. You can actually buy the Jack Daniels soaked wood chips at Wal Mart. I boiled the wood chips and then soaked them in a local bourbon for extra taste. If you want a real bourbon taste you will need more chips than come with the packet and the beer will need to ferment longer.

I received my package as scheduled on time. In good condition, I'm bringing a different period of time. So I couldn't tell you how this one's gonna turn out until I make it, but I'll let you know. Thank you.

This was the best brew so far. I touched it off with a cup of Rebecca Creek Texas bourbon in the secondary and let it sit for about 2 months. Then we noticed that the longer this brew bottle aged the better it became... smoother and the flavors mingled more instead of being individually pronounced. Delicious.

It was an amazing tasting beer.I had a hard time not digging into it earlier than I was supposed to
