Worked easier than expected.
This worked surprisingly easy. Just pop the m.2 ssd in and connect and you're off and running. Did not check transfer speeds, but the unit did get warm, the thermal pad and slight caee heatsink were welcomed.

These work with linux.
Some similar products have jmicron chipsets that dont really work well with Linux. These have realtek chipsets and they seem to work just fine. This is not really a replacement for internal nvm, but for data recovery and extremely high capacity flash drive use they should work just fine (speed is limited to usb speeds so you're gonna take a hit there, you're not going to use the nvm to its fullest extent.). Heat dissipation is really good due to the aluminum casing, comes with its own screwdriver and two usb cables, and just works. This thing is recommending I comment on its brightness and fit. Well, the card fits in (and installs very easily admittedly), and it's not very bright. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything? But portableness, ok. It fits in a pocket and I doubt it'll come to any harm there...

Great product, great brand. Can't go wrong with ORICO enclosures.
I've purchased quite a few ORICO enclosures for SATA devices, so I decided to buy ORICO enclosures for a few NVMe devices. As expected, I had no problems at all.

Works but I have others that are easier to use; these were a test
The rubber plug worked but took several minutes to make it work and was a bit frustrating. it seems like the enclosure would actaully function fine if i didn't use the plug at all and just applied the heat strip and then closed it up. The closure screw is a joke. There is no need to make it so small. it did work, but if you drop it or if your hands shake, .... For heaven sake, there is no reason to make screws that small, make them a bit larger and they would be easier to use. I purchased them as a test since they were less expensive than the ones i have been buying. am planning to keep them.

Just what I needed to clone a drive
Worked perfectly to clone a drive using the DD utility in Linux.

Tough spot avoided!
I recently had a motherboard die, and I wanted to copy all of the files from that computer to another. I didn't have another computer with a open slot for this type of drive, so this was a necessity to save my data. The design is small and unobtrusive, and the metal case seems durable. The design is good at radiating any heat. I got very high throughput from my old SSD when I placed it in this enclosure, and installing and SSD is as simple as opening the case and sliding it in. I hope that I don't need to use it again, but I'm glad that I have it.

Nice unit aesthetically but not so good in other ways
I like the look and the feel of the unit even though the bottom is plastic only top is metal. They use a torx screw to hold the heatsink down but were kind enough to include the proper tool for it. The rubber plug to hold the end of the pcb in place is well, just awful. Fighting to get the plug to go though the hole with big fingers is beyond frustrating. All while trying not to break anything, just use a screw like everyone else, points for trying but in real world use a failure. Now you finally get it all together and time to initialize and format, yeah. Not so fast, it initialized fine but would not finish formatting using multiple programs. Throws a bad sector message or just hangs up. M.2 is good as I pulled it and put it in an SSK and a VCOM enclosure and it works just fine. So I figured maybe a miss match in M.2 NVMe drives, I installed another and same issue. I bought the dual version so I put an old SATA unit in and it almost worked but started connecting and disconnecting over and over. So wasted about 2 hours messing around and guessing I have a defective unit in some way. I have other Orico products and am happy with them. Disappointed with this, maybe I got a bad one.

Very good SSD enclosure.
Great enclosure. Good value. Short cables about right length without excess to get tangled. Simple, straightforward instillation. Good design. Highly recommended.

Gets really hot. At what temp should I be concerned? Heat dissapation strip only lowered temp by 2°C. When I tore old computer apart, placed the Samsung 990 in the case. Works great. But Speed is inconsistent. It does connect to camera and cellphone c port. Read the box as my cables were not labeled. To the manufacturer, please place speed rating of cable on both ends of cable AND place a symbol on the case with a speed rating as well. Device worked as soon as it was plugged in.
