I love my new doorbell
This was my first time using a video doorbell, and I was initially worried about the wiring. But the setup was surprisingly simple, thanks to the step-by-step guide in the app. I was also pleased to discover that my old mechanical chime continues to function with the ecobee doorbell camera after installing the included chime adapter—it was a nice touch! The video quality is excellent, and the wide field of view provides a great look at my porch. I also appreciate the motion detection range adjustment in the app, which allows me to customize what gets detected, reducing unnecessary alerts. One of my favourite features is the integration with the thermostat. I didn’t expect to use it much, but I love that I can quickly glance at my thermostat to see who’s at the door when the bell rings. Overall, this doorbell camera has exceeded my expectations. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and packed with useful features. Highly recommend!

Which of the 3 to pick
Of the camera doorbells on the market this one if my favorite, however I think you may want to consider on of the others, depending. Logi was the only doorbell with noticeable downsides outside of having a secure platform. Nest and their ecosystem was the best for full home automation and Eco was the best for a secure platform/ standalone product/ Apple Home iOS product. though you really can't go wrong with any of those 3. Logi I'll start by stating there really isn't a bad choice here, with the possible exception of logi, between them getting obsessively hot and not being terribly reliable. My dad has one and he has both issues though not enough so that he gets rid of it. Ring I had a Ring for years and it worked well. It was easy to install and the notifications were accurate. Plus the community is huge so you'll know when something happens. For example when something happened at a local elementary school my ring doorbell let me know first. Same for amber alerts. This is solid choice, though not the securest platform as the only downside here. Google - Nest They make a great doorbell. The major advantage this doorbell has is that it goes with the google ecosystem. I.E. if you want a lot of home automation, or you're in their ecosystem already there is no reason not to grab this doorbell. It's not the most secure platform either though not the least. Eco The picture is great, it works by far the easiest with other systems (like Apple or iOS), and there are no large downsides. If you want a secure platform or are using Apple's Home App this is your best bet.

the Ecobee Smart Doorbell is a strong contender in the smart home market
I recently got my hands on the new Ecobee Smart Doorbell, and I have to say, it’s an impressive addition to any smart home setup. Right out of the box, it gives off a premium feel with a sleek, modern design and solid build quality. Installation was straightforward, especially if you’re already using Ecobee products. The doorbell integrates seamlessly with the Ecobee app and works great with Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The 1080p HD video quality is crystal clear, even at night thanks to the infrared night vision. The wide-angle lens gives a great view of your doorstep, and the motion alerts are fast and accurate. One of the standout features is how well it handles package detection and visitor recognition. Plus, the two-way audio is surprisingly clear, letting you talk to delivery drivers or guests in real time. Overall, the Ecobee Smart Doorbell is a strong contender in the smart home market. It’s stylish, reliable, and packed with features that make your home feel more secure and connected.

Humungous but Works!
Please let me rant a little bit before getting to the good parts since I just lost 3 hours of my morning that could’ve been easily prevented! Only a bunch of dumb engineers who have never held a screwdriver in hand would design a product for US market that is incompatible with any standard wall plates! Seriously, what the? My install rapidly turned into a craft project to drill holes into my stainless wall plate and destroy the wall around the junction box. Just add two more holes in the back of the plastic wedge or the plate or whatever you call it. Seriously. Was tempted to reduce my rating to three stars, but it’s a good product. Please read on. Video doorbell market is still in early ages that no perfect product is available. A couple of years ago, after extensive research we installed Logitech to be compatible with HomeKit and Apple secured video. Little that we knew, Logitech has overheating issues that did not manifest until months later in Florida’s hot summer. It kept restarting every 5-10 min and became unresponsive. We changed the transformer 6 times and nothing helped. We even got a replacement from their warranty after 3 months of back and forth which had the same problems. I considered getting UniFi G4 Doorbell Pro, but I liked the idea of HomeKit. Fast forward to today, when I saw Ecobee has come up with this product I jumped the gun and shipped it overnight. Opening the box I was surprised by the huge size of the doorbell, but if it prevents it from overheating, so be it and so long Logitech. As mentioned, it’s incompatible with wall plates, but I was determined. Three hours later, it was on. I added it to HomeKit first (BIG MISTAKE), and everything was fine! Ecobee app could not find it and requested a factory reset. Opened the Allen screw underneath and factory reset the device and went through setup again, this time inside Ecobee app. Everything went smoothly until it stopped and asked to add a two-factor verification if I want to see the camera feed. Anyways, just some hassle and I added my phone number to get it done with. Added to HomeKit again, and everything seemed to be fine, but the physical chime did not sound when I pressed the bell button. Another 15-20 min of trouble shooting, and suddenly everything started working. It seems Ecobee unlike other manufacturers has put the lithium ion batteries inside the chime kit, and it takes some time to charge up, so just relax for half an hour and then try the bell! Overall, it seems other than some dumb design choices it’s a good and solid product. All my Ecobee thermostats turned into two-way video doorbells now which is neat. They all chime too if you enable it in the app. The choice to put the battery in the chime kit is quite brilliant since you can replace it every few years easily without changing the whole doorbell (listen Logitech). I will miss HomeKit secure video, and I’m not going to pay for ecobee monthly subscription for package detection, but anything is better than Logitech’s overheating. Thanks for reading, and YMMV.

I've had the doorbell camera for almost two months. The camera functions well, the image quality is nice, and install was a breeze. I also live in northern Alberta, and it functioned without issue during an entire week below -30 degrees celsius. The subscription to have your videos saved on the cloud isn't overly pricey and reasonable. Having to pay a subscription is really the only drawback so far. I like that it integrates with my ecobee smart thermostat, but the functionality is limited since the image only appears on the thermostat screen when someone presses the doorbell button. I wish it would appear on tbe thermostat whenever motion is detected. I'm also pleased that this doorbell camera works with my house's old 16v 10va transformer, and that I didn't need to install a new one. Most new smart cameras require a higher voltage transformer with greater amperage output. I believe the ecobee doesn't require as much power due to the chime adapter having it's own battery. This would reduce the total on system when the mechanical chime is activated. But that's just my personal speculation. There was an issue with the zoom/pan feature, but support was quick to get back to me via email, and they assured me the issue would be resolved with the next patch/update. This proved to be true, and the issue is resolved. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase so far. And having full control of my home's thermostat and camera on the same app is a pleasant experience. I'd recommend this product to anyone okay with paying for a subscription.

We’ve looked into a bunch of smart doorbell brands; especially offer sustainable products and this one was super well-rated. Got in great price, so felt like a solid deal. It's feels premium, lightweight & complete kit which made our setup so easy. I hope it holds up well since we experience pretty cold weather here. The full HD video plus the quality of sound is amazing; everything is so crisp & clear especially during day time. I like that it has 2 way audio features, night vision and impressive motion detection. The controllable low siren in the app is new for me and nice touch for deterring unwanted visitors. So far, no delay with the ring or app notifications, except when recording motion and updating every two minutes. You can also download the ecobee app and invite family members for easy access when you’re not home. Definitely worth it, and highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade and enhance their home security. Update: 12/28/2025 I bought this in April 2025 and everything works perfectly. But by Oct-Dec, the mechanical chime stopped working (no ding‑dong sound), possibly because of the extreme cold. Then in mid‑December, we didn’t fix anything, it suddenly started working again.

Had a blink doorbell that was easy to install and worked reliably but took a long time to connect to the app to see video. Got an ecobee thermostat and thought it would be good to have a matching doorbell with quick connect video. It was painful to install, and needed a new doorbell transformer which I purchased and installed. Finally got it working but it is slow to notify my phone of a doorbell press, the video is choppy and delayed, and the audio is unintelligible. Then it goes offline. My wifi is strong and the blink camera never had wifi issues. This doorbell will likely be returned. Shame.

I have been thinking of getting a doorbell camera for quite a while and when they came on sale I knew I had to get one. Having done my research I knew Ecobee had a really highly rated camera and as we also already have an Ecobee Thermostat that we really like it was a no brainer to get this one. Installation instructions are very thorough and as such even an average handy person should have very little issues installing this camera. Once installed the video is streamed to the Ecobee app. which is very easy to use. The field of vision is amazing as is the quality of the video both in daylight and in darkness. The text alerts work perfectly when someone comes to the door, so much so we even got them on vacation in Scotland. If you are looking for a top notch doorbell camera look no further than Ecobee.

Installed it 10days back. Working good so far. Have had occasional brownouts when the button was pressed, even though I had disconnected one out of two mechanical ding-dongs. Have ordered a couple of 12vdc chimes from China along with dc regulators and dry contact relays so that I can DIY my own design to work like ordinary ac chimes. Will share my design with pictures and diagram once the project is completed... it is a no brainer so not sure why no one does that. They will cost less than American dong-dongs and avoid surge current that you get from the century old tech used in America. And the standard 4core bell wire is already compatible with 4wire DC chimes.
