Wera 05027405001 Round Awl, 200 mm

Brilliant awl at a brilliant price.Feels solid and great quality.Sharp and comes to a very small point.It is balanced in the hand, as the weight is mostly all in the handle as it has a full tang that follows the taper of the tool.I was worried from the photos that the handle material would be a hard/shiny non-grippy material, but it is actually it is a plastic with a soft grippy feel to it so it has just the the right grip with a nicely shaped handle.No doubt this will be great for anything that I need to use it for.

Hands up everyone who has bought a cheap hand tool, only for it to last 5 minutes, and then you have to go and purchase the better tool you should have bought in the first place. Well, this Wera Awl is one of those unicorns, a good quality tool, from a very reputable brand, at a cheap price. It is larger and heavier than I was expecting. The handle is very comfortable, and like the other reviewers have pointed out, the tang goes right through the handle, so unlike the poor quality awls, you can safely tap this one with a hammer without it disintegrating like wet toilet paper. If you have your Amazon orders delivered together on a nominated day, you might want to order this awl separately, because it's very sharp, does not ship with any kind of point protector, and it had almost punched it's way out of the Amazon shipping envelope by the time I received it. An earlier reviewer mentioned placing a rawl plug over the sharp tip. I think I will use that trick myself.

I had got a bit complacent with not using an Awl since my apprentice years. I have now realised after nearly 30 years + that using an awl can make your drilling far more accurate. Reasonably priced for a Wera tool and their usual quality to boot.

Perfect just what I needed

I have owned this for 18 months and here is my review:1. This is a high quality tool. The steel is very strong and will not bend nor will the tip snap when put under pressure. I know this because I have beaten mine relentlessly on several occasions2. It is VERY sharp. I put a plastic wall plug on it when returning it to my toolbox, otherwise I’ll probably stab myself with it at some stage.3. The steel shaft goes right through the plastic handle, i.e. a full tang. Very useful for whacking with a hammer.4. The plastic handle is a nice size and shape to get a good grip on when you need to.5. I think it is excellent value.6. I have used mine for poking, prying, scribing and a load of other things it probably wasn’t intended for and it’s still like new. It is a surprisingly useful tool to have in the toolbox.Overall an excellent tool that will last and a great price. Recommended.

Buy cheap buy twice or 3 times. Just get this one and it will last a lifetime.

Great quality well made tool; up to usual Wera high standard. Didn’t even realise when I ordered it has a full tang. Shown next to my old Stanley bradawl for size

The media could not be loaded.  Maybe use this as an ice pick or make a hole in some coconuts or something. It's definitely better than the curved pick I have in my tool bag.Saw the price wasn't so bad here, considering it's a Wera. My first choice was going to be Channellock, but went with this one in terms of shape and size and striking area.

Stålpinnen är genomgående ända upp i toppen vilket betyder att när man slår med en hammare så slår man direkt på stålpinnen istället för på plasten i handtaget, mycket bra. Den känns synnerligen välgjord och av hög kvalitet. Jag är väldigt nöjd med denna.
