With a bit of effort this can be great
This is a small mallet but packs a good punch! The finish is pretty basic on the brass head and the maple handle. The head unscrewed quite easily and I polished it and finished off with some Brasso - it came up great. I put the handle on my lathe and sanded to 240 applied some abrasive paste (Yorkshire Grit) and finished off with some microcrystalline wax and the handle is terrific to look at. With a bit of tlc this has been transformed and looks worth twice the price.
