This does the job as intended. Good value and works good in our shop. I would buy again.

A very good cutoff /grooving and profiling tool ,good for everything except roughing . only downside is the insert doesn't last as long as bigger insert tools, but for getting in to tight spaces is where it shines. Cut a lot of stainless with this cutter.For the money its impressive and the inserts are cheap to.

Why pay more? These work great on my 12" - 2hp lathe. I pushed my last one a little too hard, the insert snapped and took the tip of the tool with it, so now there's no support under the tip of the insert. It's also cheaper to buy this took with the inserts included, than to buy the inserts on their own!

The tool itself it great. I have been employed as a machinist for 38 years and the tool is excellent and given the price, a real bargain. The carbide inserts on the other hand, not so great. The first job I used the tool on was for parting off some Type 316 stainless steel and I soon figured out that I was able to cut off one part per insert cutting edge. Type 316 is tough stuff to work with so I suspect that most other materials would give a longer cutting edge life.

Using these as a parting tool, was pretty pleased with the function, used on aluminum and Stainless Steel. Like usual on stainless you need to keep the rpm down and increase feed speed. This worked where other parting tools I've used were less than useless, a couple others bought them after I told them I got pretty good results. They have also been pleased with there function. Maximum depth is not spectacular, but adequate for what I needed, I will be reviewing this tool to see if there are others with another inch in depth reach.

Needed to cut a groove in a piston, just a one time job. For the price and timely delivery, it was just what I needed.

I bought this because I was hoping to improve on my success rate at parting off steel. I centered the bit height, aligned the cutter with the chuck, the lathe was turning at 280 RPM, I was using cutting oil, I was trying to cut through .520 round steel stock approximately one inch away from the chuck with the tool in the holder as deep as it would go (no long stick out). The first bit snapped off the end very quickly so I turned it around and tried again. The second bit didn't last much longer. When the third edge (actually the second bit) gave way; it damaged the end of the holder and I still hadn't made it to the center of this small part. I used the power cross feed at it's slowest setting and I also tried manually feeding.. Time to throw in the towel and look for another solution. I obviously can't recommend this cutter....I'm sending mine back.
