I appreciate that my ThriftBooks purchase of this "very good condition" used book is a great deal . They do not over rate the condition of books like other sellers.

Good Topic to explore and well written book
I originally bought this book for a class I was taking in Graduate School and then wound up using it again in another class. Dean Brackley is a wonderful writer -- he is thought provoking, realistic, incredibly inciteful and writes in a humble manner. This book is one that I can refer to often not just in my ministry but life as well. Discernment is something that our society does not seem to embrace these days so I am thankful to have a great resource to draw from. Sadly Brackley passed away some time ago, but I am very thankful his writings and ideas are still able to inspire others.

Worth reading
Excellent book. I have made the long retreat twice. He translates Ignatius for our time approaching an interfaith perspective and the securlar contxt of our lives. Clear discussion of rules for discernment. Begins with human experience, sometimes his own, to keep what Ignatius was getting at real, not theoretical. Well written. Leona Sullivan

The Call to Discernment In Trouble Times
I purchased this book as a requirement for my Spiritual Direction Class. I enjoyed reading this book and I have learned so much about myself and others around me. This book will be a helpful reference book for my religious library in years to come. I highly recommend this book and look forward to buying more books from this author.

Reasonable commentary; moderate political position
The book is an easy to read commentary (really) on the Exercises of St. Ignatius. While not imposing, there is a definite political prospective.

Thank you.
I knew Dean from his service to the Jesuit volunteer corps and only wish that I could thank him in person for his gentle scholarship and great gift to my prayer life.
