Very useful for DIY automotive jobs
Great little Anvil. Ideal for shaping small metal pieces for automotive welding. Works a treat. Finish is a bit off so a file was needed to sort out the rough edges. There was a small amount of weld splatter too but these small discrepancies are easily overlooked for the price.

Sturdy and well made
Received today on time in secure packaging. Sturdy piece of kit, well made with the sealey brand, and of good quality for the price paid.

Metal Soft and sharp around the edges
Its a 5kg block of metal designed for hammering on to, so there shouldn’t be much to be said, but there is. Firstly as many reviewers mentioned the edges are sharp, nothing that a fine file can’t sort out in a few minutes. It looks nice if anvil cosmetics are important to you. What it isn’t is hard. The pictures shows about an hour of use trying to peen hammer a rivet. The head of the rivet was on the block and the hammer was hitting the other end. As you can see on the block, it dents easy. That’s dent from the rivet head, at no point did the hammer hit it. On the positive side, the head of the rivet didn’t get a flat top. I’m not metallurgy expert but would have expected a cast iron block to be harder than a rivet that is designed to be deformed.

Sealed ANV5 Anvil 5kg
Sealey is a name that has been around for years. Overall, the product is ok for what I want from it. However, there are issues around the edge of the flat surface on top. There are quite a few areas, where the metal is damaged, I guess from when it was machined? Also, where the coating finishes around the top, it is lifting away from the edge. This means that pretty much, the whole top edge area is very rough and sharp. If I was fabricating intricate metal parts using the anvil, I would have returned/replaced this product. But this is just to make you aware of the issues I have found on this one.
