A life saver
I’m intolerant to dairy and gluten but occasionally will have a pizza and some other inflammatory foods (I’m only human!). This product has helped me tremendously, it’s honestly the best enzyme combo I’ve ever had. It’s not cheap so I save it for special occasions.

Targeted Digestive Support for Occasional Gluten & Dairy Sensitivity
I’ve used a range of digestive enzyme supplements over the years, particularly when travelling or eating out where ingredients aren’t always clear. This one from Pure Encapsulations is clearly aimed at those who occasionally struggle with gluten and dairy rather than people with diagnosed intolerances that require strict avoidance. The capsules come in a typical Pure Encapsulations bottle – clean, clinical-looking, and reassuringly simple. The 60-capsule count works well as a short trial or a month’s use depending on how often you need them. The capsules themselves are small, smooth, and easy to swallow, which is useful as these are best taken just before meals. The key point here is the enzyme blend. These types of formulas generally include enzymes designed to help break down gluten proteins and lactose found in dairy. The idea is not to “cure” intolerance, but to support digestion so the body can process occasional exposures more comfortably. In practical terms, I used them before meals that I suspected might contain hidden dairy or small amounts of gluten, such as restaurant dishes or bakery items. In use, I found them particularly helpful when eating richer meals like creamy pasta or pastries, where I’d normally expect some bloating afterwards. While they don’t make you invincible to dietary triggers, they did seem to reduce that heavy, unsettled feeling that can follow. I didn’t notice any unpleasant side effects, and they felt gentle enough for regular use when needed. The capsules appear well-filled and consistent, with no strong smell when opening the bottle. The label information is clear about intended use, which I appreciate as digestive enzymes can be quite niche and easily misunderstood. Overall, this is a well-made, targeted digestive support supplement that’s useful for occasional situations rather than daily reliance. It feels thoughtfully formulated and fits neatly into a routine for those who want a bit of extra reassurance when eating foods that may not always agree with them. In terms of value for money, at the time of writing, 70p per serving felt reasonable at this quality.

Fantastic so far!
Was having real gluten related issues but since buying and taking these everything has been sorted. Hope it remains that way!

Digestive support that works for me
I ordered this supplement after noticing that I often feel bloated after eating foods with gluten. As far as I know, I don’t have gluten intolerance, but I do feel sensitive to it. I have known the Pure Encapsulations brand for many years and trust them for their good-quality ingredients, so I felt comfortable trying this digestive enzyme. The capsules are small and easy to swallow. I haven’t noticed any aftertaste or stomach discomfort after taking them, which is important for me. The jar contains 60 capsules. The suggested dose is one capsule with meals, so it can last between 30 and 60 days, depending on how often you use it. I take it when needed, mainly when I eat gluten or when I’m eating out, which isn’t very often. For me, it helps reduce bloating and makes me feel more comfortable after meals. The price (£42.10) isn’t cheap, but I feel it’s worth paying a bit more for a supplement from a brand I trust.

Not intended for someone with coeliac disease but useful if you have an intolerance
I asked Rufus AI whether this product would work if someone had coeliac disease. It answered quite honestly that it was not intended for coeliac disease as a rigid gluten free diet had to be adhered to in such a case. As I am coeliac this means that really these capsules are not sufficient for me and in any case I do stick carefully to a gluten free diet. However, I do take one of the capsules if I am eating out either at a restaurant or at someone else's home. Even if a meal elsewhere is labelled gluten free, I am never 100% sure. In that case I take one of these capsules and it makes me feel a bit more secure. In summary, these capsules are intended for people with an intolerance of gluten, not for someone with actual coeliac disease.

Works as good as similar products tried
There are members of my household who are lactose intolerant. They usually use drops to treat milk as well as lactose enzyme pills before consuming dairy products. These Pure Encapsulation pills have been just as effective as the other major brands tried. The pills are easy to swallow, don't have any particular smell and the bottle is also much more compact for storage (see my photo next to standard Sharpie for comparison.) No discomfort has been reported from taking them. The price at around £42 for 60 capsules is definitely high, but the capsules feel better quality than others tried. This brand is also owned by Nestle and unfortunately on this point I have to concede that when it comes to health, I prefer to go for a large brand with facilities to control the entire production of their products. There are just too many supplements out there right now!
