Still Spirits Air Still System - Home Brew Spirit Making Distilling Water Oils

Fab, made some excellent. spirit out of an excess of not-very-good homemade wine. It's quite time consuming (1 distillation can take a good 2-3 hours) but is easy enough to use and well worth the effort. In the absence of a mesh basket to infuse botanicals, we improvised one to great effect. Easy to clean and overall it's a neat piece of brewing kit!

I use this little still to make small batches of gin and it works fantastic. I would recommend buying the vapour infusion basket as well. Really good product

After using this a few times I can say it works very well. Runtime can be drastically reduced with a preheated liquid, as the power consumption of the device isn't too high (which definitely isn't a bad thing). Cleaning is absolutely fantastic. I've distilled a can of coke as an experiment, making cuts. The clear coke tasted like ass, as expected, and I was left with a thick coke flavor syrup at the end. You'd think this coke syrup would be burned into the bottom and leave a permanent stain... Nope. Ran hot water from the tap over it and it disappeared before my eyes (after taking a majority of the coke extract). A quick wipe with a kitchen cloth and there was no deposits left at all, leaving the kettle appearing brand new.. The condenser is cooled by a fan seemingly quite efficiently, although I've only ever used less than half the max capacity, where the extracted air does heat up considerably. I'll have to test more regarding longer 4l runs. One thing I can't wrap my head around is why the distillate runs through a plastic (what seems like ABS!?) dropper if this is designed primarily to distill spirits. If anyone including the seller can elaborate what this spout is actually made out of I would happily change my rating to five stars. It seems once the spout is installed, it locks into place and isn't removable, once again, happy to change my review upon clarification. The seller is extremely proactive, regarding an issue I had, not related to a specific unit. Possibly the most proactive I've ever known as an Amazon seller! Overall, if you need a small pot still for whatever reason, you could buy a larger, cooler looking still for the same price, however, you'd also need a submersible pump, a large bucket with ice, and a lot of patience. With this product you can set it and forget it. Fill it up, turn it on and walk away (although probably not advisable if distilling anything with alcohol!).
