Nice firm cushion holds hernia in check
Nice hernia belt. Does what its supposed to while I await hernia surgery in 1.5 months. It keeps a small cushion firmly placed where the inguinal hernia is (in my case left side), it alleviates pain and/or the prospect of hernia getting worse. I'm pretty active and this seems to work perfectly to keep everything "in check" as I frequently need to bend over or crouch down to pick up my 3 small dogs (9-15 lbs), go on walks, or ride the exercise bike. I'm not doing weight lifting or playing golf with it (that can wait for post op after recovery), but life is more manageable again. FYI I'm 6ft 205 lbs male and the small/medium fits great as you'll want it to be tight. Velcro holds nicely. Had to buy some boxer briefs to help with that strap around the leg, which I'd say is optional. If youre experiencing an inguinal hernia and waiting for surgery, you'll wish you had this, this is a life saver. Not sure why my doctor didn't recommend one but glad I found it on Amazon. Edit after surgery: After hernia surgery, you will not need this belt anymore, which is fine, bc you'll be on the road to recovery. I'm on week 5 post op and here's some tips to get thru it. Days 1-3 are the worst, bending over is an absolute nightmare, so if something drops on floor (like even a sock, etc) I'd recommend having a grabber tool handy, you can get one for $9 on Amazon. Also learn from me bc I had a setback at week 4, I was hunched over to clip my toenails and my lower back went out. Its because they cut thru the deep core abdominal muscles to do the surgery. So just watch out with leaning and bending over. Its technically called acute lumbar back spasm and its excruciating. I'm still healing from the lower back now at week 5. So watch out and use that grabber tool to grab things down low. Raise your foot up to a bench or chair to put shoes on etc. Docs didn't warn me about this but I am. I was healthy/athletic b4 this and meant nothing. Good luck people. You can do this.

Excellent product
I bought this binder more than a year ago. I’ve used it about every other day. It’s done its job well - it minimizes the bulge, and eliminates the pain, from my inguinal hernia. It’s sturdy and well-constructed. The elastic is starting to warp a little now. I’m getting ready to buy a new one. Pros: Does the job well. Built well. Cons/Limitations: - Elastic will eventually wear out. - If you don’t fasten the velcro strips in perfect alignment, they can irritate the skin on your hip/thigh a bit. - A little bit bulky - you wouldn’t wear it with a skin-tight bodysuit. My other binder is lower-profile - it’s made of neoprene, designed by a surfer guy. A little pricier than this one. I like both. I might prefer the neoprene one for sweaty activities (summer exercise outdoors), and would definitely prefer it for swimming. But this one is a little more effective in keeping the hernia in place. Overall I like this one a little better.

Well made, effective belt.
It is well made. The insert is not very soft/ padded but that may be what is needed. It took me a number of times to get it to fit just right. The position was very critical to make sure the hernia didn't descend into the inguinal canal. When it is just right, there is no bulge and intestines stay where they're supposed to be and function well. The belt needs to be pretty tight which is a little uncomfortable but compared to the pain of the hernia - it is nothing. The coupling link for the strap under the groin could be better fastened - it easily twists out of position when the strap is tight. It needs to be tight to apply the right pressure on the lower part of the pad.

Comfortable and Well-Made But Mind the Bulge
I developed a left side inguinal hernia for which I am now awaiting surgery. Being an avid exerciser, I wanted to continue my workouts while keeping the hernia from developing further. After looking at all the options on Amazon, I settled on this belt as it is wide with plenty of room for adjustment. I have now worn the belt for about a week, and it keeps my hernia from protruding while being comfortable to wear. The egg-shaped pad can be placed precisely where it needs to be. The pad is bulky, but necessary to be able to deliver the pressure required to control the hernia. The belt is awkward to put on. I found the best way is to put it on is to place the pad over the hernia and adjust the tightness of the belt. Then, to remove it, slide it down your legs without releasing the tension. Then, you can easily pull it up without the hassle of re-tensioning the hook and loop. I can exercise, walk, and sit in comfort with this belt. The strap under my groin was annoying at first, but I quickly got used to it. Now I don't notice it. The belt is well made with quality materials and looks as if it will last I found that when I wear the belt, the egg-shaped pad protrudes in a very obvious bulge inside my pants. To prevent some people from getting the wrong idea, I always wear loose-fitting untucked shirts or sweaters. That way, the apparatus remains discretely hidden. This belt is the perfect solution for hernia control as I await my surgery. I highly recommend it.

Just never really worked for me.
I tried and tried, but it just did not fit well. It seemed like a good quality. I suffered until my surgery. Thank you western medicine when that's the best course of action.

Not just post, but pre surgery comfort and support!
The ad said it was a post hernia support. But I was in so much pain and realized that if I held pressure in that area I didn’t get the pain. I actually saw something like this on Pinterest and thought I would try it. I have been pain free since I purchased it. There was a little discomfort from wearing the belt until I got in bed but it didn’t compare to the discomfort from the hernia. If you want to buy some time until you can get your hernia fixed this is it!

Works great. Without it I could only stand for 5.10 minutes without pain. Wearing it, I could stand for hours. Standing in one place appeared to be the most painful.

I was going to give it 4 stars because of the horrible colour and I want it in a black colour, but people with a hernia need this product as it works well. I was using a thick leather belt and a sock. This work better and stays in place. It actually works better than designed as you can stick the velcro to almost any part of the item and it sticks well. There is a strap to put between your legs to hold it in place so it doesn't ride up, and again, with the velcro sticking to anything, you can place and tighten this any way you need. And, you don't need to use this strap when just walking around the house or sitting, which makes it more comfortable. It really has given me a better quality of life as I can move around more and bend down fairly well (the belt can be tight and inhibit movement).
