Easy to use, no mess, and invisible protection from leaks and drips
I was researching how to install a new garbage disposal, and came across a suggestion to use these gasket rings at the sink interface instead of plumbers putty. I had my kitchen redone a couple years ago, and one of the things I didn't like about the sink was the messy look of the dried putty the contractor left behind. Oh, and it also eventually started cracking and then ultimately leaking. So I figured I'd give these rings a try and I'm glad I did. There's absolutely no mess, no working with putty, and very little waste generated unlike a jar of putty that unless you're a contractor you're very unlikely to use all of. Once installed (and "installation is a bit misleading because all you have to do is put this ring in place) and after getting the disposal tightened in place, the ring is invisible, giving my sink a cleaner look. While I had all the towels in place I did some tests and didn't find any leaks. That was a couple weeks ago, and -- fingers crossed -- still dry where it's supposed to be. I would recommend these to anyone installing or replacing a disposal under their sink.

Great!
This works SO MUCH BETTER than ‘Plumbers’ stuff that squeezes out, then leaks!

Easy to use. No plumber putty needed.
Worked well stopped leaking with out and plumber putty. Easy to use. Not a messy mess as seen in the photos. Used as a shower drain gasket.

Seems to work - kinda
Now about that plumbers putty.... I installed a kitchen sink strainer with plumbers putty - carefully - but it leaked. Ordered these to see what happens. Was tempted to install both but just installed one in lieu of plumbers putty. Well, this seemed to have worked on the old cast iron type kitchen sink. I'm watching this for leaks with a paper towel to tell the tale. So far, no leaks after 3 weeks. Seems too simple to work this well. Anyway, should a leak eventually develop I would redo the install with both of these gaskets at once. That's a plan I hope not to use. 2/7: Well, a small occasional leak has started. I plan to try this with both rings when I have time to try again.

Worked
Fit nicely to my kitchen sink piping. Made the repair possible. I used a type of teflon plumber putty since the gasket that came with the nut was unusable in the configuration of my sink’s plumbing. All I can say is it isn’t leaking anymore. My previous nut split. The before and after see the photos. This item was the cheapest means for me to make my DIY repair quickly.

BEST thing ever!!
This is SO much easier to use than putty! After my friend 'fixed' my drain with putty, it was still leaking. I wanted a deep drain anyway so I decided to do it myself and I used these foam gaskets instead of putty, as I HATE putty. This was the right choice for me. 2 years later, still no leaks! I came back hoping to find more for another sink and possibly a tub drain too. These were so easy to work with without creating a mess.

Warning: Product is not stainless steel as titled.
BUYER BEWARE: this is not stainless steel as described. I am an engineer and worked in the metal stamping arena. I'm quite familiar with various metal coatings. This product is a carbon steel with yellow zinc plating. Please see attached photo and notice the yellow appearance. If the seller argues and says it's stainless steel with a yellow plating, then they are wrong. Yes, you can put yellow zinc over stainless steel but it is NOT recommended and there is absolutely no purpose for it. Yellow zinc plating is for corrosion resistance and stainless steel alone has this characteristic. The primary concern is what is known as galvanic corrosion if applying zinc coating to stainless steel. In layman's terms, the product rapidly degrades over time in the presence of water or saltwater. This is a plumbing product; therefore, it's in a wet environment. Hence it makes no sense that it is stainless steel with zinc plating. Unfortunately, I cannot return this because of my plumbing emergency. I hope this message helps you.
